The story of an All Star

"When did I realize I was special? It's quite a long story, but i'll try and make it brief.

It all started when somebody once told me the world was going to roll me, they said I wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed. I'll admit, she was looking kind of dumb with her finger and her thumb in the shape of an 'L' on her forehead.

But, well, the years start coming and they don't stop coming. I was fed to the rules and I hit the ground running. It didn't make sense not to live for fun because your brain gets smart but your head gets dumb. There's so much to see, so much to do, so what's wrong with taking the backstreets? I mean, you'll never know if you don't go and you'll never shine if you don't glow.

That's when my head told me, 'Hey now, you're an all star, get your game on, go play! And hey now, you're a rock star, get the show on, get paid!' I thought about it, and decided that even though all that glitters is gold, only shooting stars truly break the mold.

Let's face it, it's a cool place and they say it gets colder. You're bundled up now? Wait till you get older. But, the meteor men beg to differ judging by the hole in the satellite picture. The ice we skate, it's getting pretty thin. The waters getting warm, so you might as well swim. My worlds on fire, don't know about yours, but that's the way I like it and i'll never get bored.

After that thought, I decided my head was right, and I told myself: 'Hey now, you're an all star, get your game on, go play! And hey now, you're a rock star, get the show on, get paid!' I reminded myself that all that glitters is gold but only shooting stars truly break the mold.

I couldn't convince myself, so I tried again, telling myself over and over: 'Hey now, you're an all star, get your game on, go play! And hey now, you're a rock star, get the show on, get paid!' It's true that all that glitters is gold, but of course only shooting stars will really break the mold.

Here's a little anecdote: somebody once asked if I could spare some change for gas, and I thought 'I need to get myself away from this place'. I said 'Yep, what a concept. I could use a little fuel myself...and we could all use a little change'

Let's be honest, the years start coming and they don't stop coming. We're fed to the rules and we hit the ground running. It doesn't make sense not to live for fun, cause after all your brain may get smart but your head gets dumb. So much to see, so much to do, so tell me what's wrong with taking the backstreets. Remember, you'll never know if you don't go, and you'll never shine if you don't glow!

That's when I shouted at the top of my lungs to anyone who was listening: 'Hey now, you're an all star, get your game on, go play! Hey now, you're a rock star, get the show on, get paid! All that glitters is gold but only shooting stars truly break the mold!'

Yeah, all that glitters is gold...and only shooting stars break the mold...

And since then, I've reminded myself that I am indeed an all star, and someday perhaps my wise words will help someone else find their true self."

I had closed my eyes during my monologue and was snapped out of it by a stern voice,

"That's great an all, only I asked you what you wanted for breakfast. This happens every morning dammit!"
