Chapter 9

*beware, this chapter is long, but i hope you like it!*

~*~ 4 months later ~*~

Mili shot her dad a death glare, telling him she was done. "I'm done! I'm done with everything! I'm 18, I can do what I want. I hate it here."

"Mili, you're overreacting. All I did was ask you to go get some groceries." Her dad tried to explain.

"No, Dad. That's not it. It's been building up in me for 2 months. Ever since Mom died.. You haven't really cared! You lost your job, and haven't even begin to look for a new one! I'm not the only one you have to support!" Mili shouted back. Three of her younger cousins were staying with her.

2 months ago, Mili had spent her college saving funds to move to California, where she could go to college. She had a full ride scholarship to Stanford, and really wanted to go. She moved her family down there. Or what she had left of a family. 1 month prior to moving, her mom had died. She committed suicide. Her mother missed Alexyss so much, and couldn't stand the state of depression that her life held. Then, only a week before Mili moved, her Aunt (a single mother) was killed in a drunk driving accident. Mili, being the the kind and good hearted girl she was, decided to take the 3 young children with her. Her dad had agreed to help. After all, she did pay for his expenses to move down to California. He owed everything to her. After her mother died, her dad was fired. He never searched for another job, he only spent his days mooching off his daughter. Mili had been given extra money to go to Stanford, and she held a job as a part-time waitress at a local restaurant. She left everything behind in Idaho. Including her best friend, Sherry. But the girls always kept in touch, calling each other every night, or skypeying and such.

"Even if you do want to leave, Mili, you can't! You have nowhere to go! And no money to bring with you!" Her dad snapped back.

"Dad, I am not kidding you. You're getting a job, I am moving and you are taking care of the poor kids." Mili stated.

"Mili, lets be real, you have nowhere to go. You can't just leave. Plus, you wouldn't leave these kids here."

"Watch me, I'll find a home for them. And I'll leave you here to rot. I'm tired of supporting you. It should be the other way around. You need to grow up!"

"I swear-"

"England!" Mili shouted, interrupting her dad, "Yeah, I'll move to London."

"HA! No, you won't. You really won't.." Her dad sounded as if he was trying to convince himself.

"I am, and I'm leaving in 3 days. Watch me, Dad. I'll grow up to be the person you've always wanted to be. I'll have the perfe-" She was cut off.

"What about the kids....?" Her dad seemed worried, now.

"I'll figure something out, something good. Something they'll like. Something you couldn't do. I always figure something out!" Mili shouted as she slammed the door into her small room.

She threw herself on her bed, and grabbed her laptop. As it powered on, she bent over the side of her bed, peaking beneath it for a hidden shoe box. As she pulled up the shoe box, she tore the lid off. Inside was a book. Nothing special, at first sight. Removing the book, she tossed it across her room as it flung into the door.

"You can't do anything," Mili murmured, mocking her dad. "Watch me, Dad, watch me."

Her hands flew inside the box as she delicately picked up the stack of special paper that had a green tint to it. She slid each bill between her fingers, counting ever so carefully.
