"You know the giant Christmas tree they have in New York?" Carolyn continued over the phone.
I nodded, then realized she couldn't see me, "Yes," I replied, drying my eyes.
"That's like life," she simply said.
"Life's a giant, erect dick?"
She chuckled, "No, Nina. Life's like a Christmas tree. And everything that happens to us is just a little ornament on a little branch."
