Note: Longtime reader, first time publishing. Enjoy, let me know what you think.

It was raining; pouring in fact.

I sat, parked in my car in the Godfrey driveway. My hands still firm on the steering wheel despite the fact I'd been parked for almost 15 minutes. My mind and my heart raced. I needed things to be over with Roman.

He consumed my thoughts.
He consumed my body.
He consumed my heart.

A knock at my window startled me. I held my chest and looked to see Roman holding a large black umbrella. He looked at me expectedly. I sighed and turned red from the embarrassment that I had been out here long enough for him to come out. I shoved my keys into my jacket pocket and opened my car door as Roman took a step back. The cool rain felt good on my warm face. I closed the door as Roman closed the gap between us. His umbrella covered us both, but I was already wet. He moved a strand of damp hair from my brow and caressed my cheek. I leaned into his touch.

"Come in, it's raining. You're already soaked."

I shook my head, he took his hand from my cheek and put it in his pocket.

"Why not?"

I looked up at him, he was nearly a foot taller than me.

"Because you consume my entire being."

He chuckled tracing the shape of my jaw with his finger than rubbing my bottom lip with his thumb. He leaned down and captured my lips with his. My knees grew weak, but my mind remained steadfast. I lightly pulled away from him. I placed my hand lightly in his chest to give us some space. The umbrella above us shook spilling droplets onto us both.

"Roman."

"Yes."

He looked at me. I wanted to crumble.

"I can't do whatever this is anymore."

"You don't enjoy this? I was under the impression that you do. The way your body responds to me."

His thumb caressed my cheek, I willed my body to not instantly respond to his touch. His eyes grew dark.

"You mind tells you one thing, but you body tells me another."

His lips crashed down onto mine again, this time he dropped the umbrella keeping us from the rain. His arms snakes around my waist as my own arms deceive me and find their way around his neck. I extend onto my tip toes deepening the kiss despite myself. I feel his body against mine as I run a head through his now wet hair.

He consumed my thoughts.
He consumed my body.
He consumed my heart.

I pulled away from him taking a deep breath touching my lips that just betrayed me.

"Goodbye Roman. We're through."

I turned on my heel opening my car door and getting inside. I looked at him as he stared at me.

He didn't move.

I looked away from him.

The rain picked up.

I started my ignition. I buckled my safety belt and put the car in drive. As I drove down the driveway I looked back in my rear view mirror. Roman still stood there. Umbrella still tossed to the side. I let the tears fall as I forced myself to continue to drive home.
