He was running. An entire horde behind his back. He pulled out his shadow daggers and cut down the three mutants that were in his way. How, how could this happen to this poor unfortunate soul. Well, let me explain...

One week earlier

After the dome was put over the city. Lotus knew he was in trouble. Why else would the government put that dome on the city he lived in, Zrans. He was just completing his parkour training, he could free run for hours. But then, he heard a scream. Being his usual self he immediately he picked up a nearby weapon, which just happened to be a pipe and ran to the sound. The sight, was grisly. The person who screamed was lying on the floor, blood pooling out from the severe wounds on his shoulder and neck. It looked like, bite marks? Lotus went over to take a closer look, but suddenly the person leaped up and knocked him to the ground. The person was trying to bite him, but Lotus managed to kick it off and smack it in the head with the pipe. The person fell to the ground, but it wasn't dead. Not yet. So Lotus did the one thing he could've possibly done. He ran. But the person, no, the mutant, screeched, and Lotus could hear the screeches of thousands mutants, all responding to the things distress call. He ran down the alley and vaulted over a mutant that had just shown up. He used that to climb to the top of a building, he risked a look backwards. He could see thousands of mutants running to kill him. He jumped a gap between buildings and saw a mutant running towards him from in front of him. He jumped and thrust both his legs out and knocked the mutant off the building. Lotus could hear the crack as the mutant broke its neck from the fall. He ran and jumped onto a zipline. He could see a horde of mutants, all piling on top of each other, almost like a wave, all of them wanting to eat him. He jumped and another mutant charged at him. Instead of drop kicking it, he grappled the mutant and threw him off the edge. He kept on running until he heard a call.

"Over here kid!" Lotus ran to the source of the noise and saw a man with blue lighting around the house he was in. Lotus ran inside and shut the door, and not a moment too soon. Right after, he heard banging, but it stopped suddenly.

"What were you thinking? Those mutants are extremely fast."

"Sorry, I was caught outside, who are you?" he asked the man.

"Name's Meriweather, yours?"

"Lotus, uh, what's up with blue lighting outside?"

"It's called neon lighting. It keeps the infected away, and if they stand in it for a while, they fry like shrimp on the barbie."

"Okay, so, I need to check on my family, do you have a weapon I could borrow?"

"I just have these shadow daggers, I'm an old man, I don't need to punch."

"Thank you, I'll return them when I can."

"No, keep 'em, I just said I don't need 'em."

Lotus thanked him again and went out again. None of the mutants that were chasing him were around. He climbed a wall and he saw his house, right across the 'safe zone'. He jumped onto his window ledge and climbed inside. There he found his mom and dad, dead. "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO," he screamed. But then Lotus thought, hold on, what about my sister? He ran to her room and saw a mutant slowly approaching his sister. The girl, who was called Ava, was screaming for help. Lotus equipped his shadow daggers and drove them into the mutants head. The mutant screeched once, and fell silent.

"B-bro, you killed that person."

"That wasn't a person, come on climb on my back, more of them are going to be coming soon."

Ava climbed onto her brother's back and he ran to the safe house, and not a moment too soon. They saw mutants swarm the house and destroy it.

"Lotus, I'm scared." Ava said, obviously terrified

"You'll be okay here, that man will take care of you. For now, I need to see if I can find other survivors okay?" Lotus replied.

"Okay, be safe Lotus."

Lotus got up and ran to the exit, determined to find other survivors. Ava went to the bed that was closest, and fell asleep.

From outside the dome, a helicopter was flying around the dome. The pilot was talking to someone on the radio.

"Uh we have somebody uninfected."

"WHAT? But we made sure everyone was- wait hold on, which blood type was immune?"

"B-"

"Hmmm, that's probably why. Ok, kill him."

"Yes sir."
