6/7: TRUTH

"Why?"

Akaashi tightened his hold around her waist, his jaw sharp, pressing against the back of her head. She could feel it, feel him, feel everything.

"Why?"

"Because you need to know the truth."

She squeezed her eyes shut. She knew the truth already. The truth was the mirror. "The truth?"

"Yeah," he mumbled in that baritone voice that was bursting to its seams with emotion. "The truth is, all of those things are in your head," his whisper was harsh, desperate. He held her so close, so tight, she could hardly breathe. "It's all just an illusion in your mind. Nobody thinks you're ugly, nobody thinks you're fat. Nobody cares if you have too many freckles on your nose, or if your thighs touch. You're more than just a body. You're more than just an appearance."

"That's the truth?"

"Yes."

"I just... I can't believe it. I won't. That's not what the mirror says."

"Then I think it's time you said goodbye to that mirror once and for all."
