"Y/N. Take Yumi upstairs now." Jungkook spoke firmly, closing the door over so that I couldn't see who was standing there. Furrowing my brow, I scooped Yumi up, resting her on my hip as she wrapped her arms around my neck. As I was walking passed the door, I could hear someone shouting on the other side.
Yumi yawned as I placed her down on the bed. I ran a tender hand over the top of her hair, smoothing it down as I smiled at her, lovingly.
"Are you tired, baby?" I asked her. She nodded, clearly ready for her nap. I tucked her into bed as I sat on the edge of it, story book in hand. She fell asleep within the first three pages. I closed the book over, hopping up and closing her bedroom door over. As soon as I reached the bottom of the stairs, the voices started to become clearer, their arguments even more so. I halted in my movements.
I stood in the doorway, casting a glance into the living room while standing in the shadows. I furrowed my brow and tried to remain silent at the sight before me.
Jungkook was stood on one side of the room, a random girl stood on the other side. There was a moment's pause before Jungkook started shouting once more.
"Why are you here? What do you want?" Jungkook was shouting.
"I'm here for Yumi!" The girl protested. "I'm here for you."
"You're full of it Mina. You didn't care about me or Yumi when you walked out on us. You didn't care about Yumi when you left her here by herself!" Jungkook's rage was rising. "You've been gone for over a year now and you haven't even picked up the phone! You didn't even send her a birthday card for goodness sake!"
"Jungkook-ah, it's been hard-" Mina tried to speak but Jungkook cut over her.
"Don't you dare! Don't you dare tell me it's been hard for you!" Jungkook stormed. "You're not the one who had to nurse our daughter to sleep for weeks because she couldn't sleep, because she thought I was going to leave her too!" He inhaled sharply, holding the bridge of his nose. "You're not welcome here anymore. I suggest you leave before Yumi wakes up. I don't want her to see you here - it will just unsettle her."
"The only reason that you want me to leave is because you've moved on." As soon as the words left Mina's lips, her eyes sought me out in the stairwell. Jungkook strode across the room, aligning himself next to me, holding out his hand to me and bringing me into the room. I felt awkward immediately. Mina's eyes narrowed.
I was frozen solid, my eyes glued to the side of his face. Mina was tapping her foot on the floor impatiently, still waiting for an answer. Jungkook's fingers locked with mine as his fingertips brushed over my knuckles.
"Please. Tell me you haven't been exposing my daughter to this shitshow..." Mina sighed. Jungkook scoffed, his grip tightening around my hand.
"Y/N has been more of a mother these last few months to Yumi than you ever were." Mina smacked her lips, dissatisfied.
"I am Yumi's mother. I gave birth to her. I care about her." Mina growled.
