I felt my face burn redder each time he looked at me. I couldn't take it anymore and ran out the door. I for some odd reason felt upset about the whole thing and broke into sobs, stupid hormones acting up, George came running behind. "Aren't you going to kiss me?" He smirked showing off his sparkly white pearl teeth. I looked up at him. "What are you drunk? Do think I'd really kiss you?" George's face became serious. "Why can't I kiss you?" He asked.
Here we go, another huge lie. I swallowed hard and opened my mouth. "Because I don't like you." At that points George's face became so serious I got a little scared. He put his hands on my shoulders and squeezed them tightly yet softly.
"Kamber Kelin we both know that's a huge lie." I swallowed hard, for I had a bump in my throat. I had no idea what to say and stood there like a complete idiot. "I-I I'm sorry." I said.
George frowned, "For what?"
"I can't do this." I replied. "Why?" George asked. "No, the question is why me? There are tons of pretty blondes and brunettes, and cheerleaders, dancers, ice skaters or whatever, yet you chose me. The ugly nerd who's mom hates her sees her dad once a month, and is just plain terrible." George shook his head. I looked away briefly. He turned me around though. "Kamber, you are the exact opposite of what you just said your beautiful, amazing, and funny and most of all your unique and I dig that." He said chuckling softly. I smiled. George Thompson the biggest player at our school had said all those things about me.
Then my face went serious. "How many other girls have you this to?" He smiled. "I've told one, you." My heart got all mushy and warm inside. "And you don't have to kiss if you don't want to." He stated.
"Ok!" I said. George grunted. We both came back in. Everyone wooed and whistled, I guess they thought we had gone out to make out or something. "We didn't kiss." I said breaking everyone's excitement.
Melena frowned. "Then you'll have to do the alternate." The alternate was you had to egg someone's house I walked out with an egg carton and took a deep breath.
I chose Mrs. Granton's house she was the worst teacher ever, she was mean, rude and just a terrible person.
I moved my fingers and grabbed a large white egg, it was still cold from when I pulled it out the fridge. One last breath and I began to throw all the eggs, first I began at her fornt door then I moved my way toward her car, and window.
I ran out of eggs and Todd handed me another carton of eggs only this one had 24 I tossed them. Each time I heard the splat of the eggs it pumped me up to throw even more soon we all jumped in and drove to H-E-B and came back with even more cartons soon everyone but me had finished their cartons.
Suddenly the light flicked on I was the only who didn't notice it, everyone else hid or ran meanwhile my stupid self kept throwing the eggs when soon she came out and called the cops. Before I could do anything the police pulled up I tried to run but tripped and fell. Next thing I knew I was in the back on a police car being driven down to the station.
"I'm sorry I wouldn't do it again, just please don't put me in prison." I begged. The officer looked at me and laugh. "Relax kid it will just be one night in a cell, not real prison, and you are going to have to call your mom to bail you out." My face went as pale as a snowball.
My mom trusted me and I'm going to prove I'm not worthy of being left alone at home. Why did I listen to them?
The cell was small had a tiny toddler sized sliver toilet, a lumpy bed and nothing else I freaked out when I got in. I began to bang on the bars. "Please let me out! I don't belong here!" The night was a scary sleepless night then it was time to call my mom.
I took a deep breath and began dailing
345....
678.....
4970....
ring... ring...
"Hello, This is Lauren Kelin who is speaking?" I gulped.
"Mom?"
"Kamber? Where are you calling from this is not your cell phone."
Here it goes.
"I'm calling from the police station, I got arrested for egging Mrs. Granton's house." There was a brief pause.
"And you need me to bail you out? Well guess what, I'm in Nevada and your Florida, there's quite a bit of distance between us, so you'll just have to face the consequences of your actions until I'm back." I whimpered.
Great now I'm going to be stuck in this hell hole even longer. I hung up.
"When will your mom be here?" The deputy asked me impatiently. "Next week, she's uh in Nevada." I said about to freak out. The deputy said I could leave tomorrow morning. In the mean time I was stuck here doing nothing, absolutely nothing.
"Ms. Kamber you have visitors." I looked up confused, I've been playing with a paddle ball because I complained about being bored.
"Kamber!" Melena came with Todd and George. "I'm so sorry! We shouldn't have had forced you." Melena hugged, or tired to , from behind the bars. "Now I'll never see you again, my best friends going to due in prison, because of me!"
The only person more dramatic than me in this world would have to be Melena. I rolled my eyes. "I'm not going to die here, I'm leaving tomorrow." They all let out a huge sigh of relief. I smiled at that.
They brought over pizza and we all ate and talked until visiting hours were done then it was back to the boring paddle ball.
The next morning the deputy woke me up at 7:00 am to let me out it was a Tuesday and I wasn't going to school. Once I got out I took the bus home and kissed my house. "Home sweet home! I'm home!" I have never been so happy to be home. I watched like 3 movies then texted the gang so they could come over.
When they did we all went into a huge bear hug.
beep...
beep...
I smacked my hand on my alarm. and got ready for school once I got there everyone was saying things like.
"I heard you were in jail?"
"Badass Kamber!"
"What was jail like?"
I kinda felt like a queen and decided to stretch the truth a little bit.
"Oh, not that bad, one of the guards, Will was so hot at night he came into my cell and kept me company, all the girls got jealous and tried to jump me. I fought them off." I said as everyone listened in awe.
