I've heard from Clarita, a clam, that strange objects come from the sky and capture sea life. Rino, one of the dolphins around here, has been missing for days. The other dolphins couldn't even use their echolocation to find him. Some of my other friends disappeared as well.
"Melody, Melody! Strange creatures have come out of the sky!" Pepper, an eel, screamed my name and swam towards me from behind.
"Creatures? What do they look like? Are they hurting anyone?" I stopped swimming and turned around.
"They look like you except they have two thin tails with weird flippy thingies at the end."
I thought for a moment. "Could it be a siren?" Sirens have two tails but I don't know about the flippy thingies. "Take me to them."
Pepper nodded and turned around. "This way."
We swam close to the sand and we went over some of the coral and rocks. "Look." Pepper stopped and hid behind a rock.
I placed my hands on the top of the stone and slowly lifted my head to peer over.
My eyes widened to see a creature that had a normal body like me except with two slim tails. I look at their face to see, what looks like, two rocks on their eyes and a weird tube thing coming out of their mouth. Their chest was bare much like a merman. They also held some type of glass object in their hands.
"What do you think it is?" Pepper asked. "Do you think it is going to hurt us?"
"I don't want you to get hurt, Pepper, don't get near it."
"But... it might just be a friend from the skies!" Pepper looked up at the sky.
I shook my head. "It is too dangerous, Pepper!" I tried to grab her tail as she swam away. "No!" I stayed behind the rock.
Pepper smiled and swam around the strange creature. "Hello, stranger!" She spoke as she moved closer to their face. "You must be new around here. Welcome!"
The creature didn't seem to understand Pepper. Instead, the creature lifted the black, glass, object thing and held it in front of Pepper. Pepper examined the thing. Then suddenly a bright light came from the object. I closed my eyes.
I opened my eyes to see Pepper swimming frantically towards me.
"Are you okay!?" I asked.
Pepper kept blinking her eyes. "I think so. That light was really bright."
I peeked at the creature again. It was looking at the black object. Then it used their two tails and fins to swim up to the sky.
"Do you think... that creature came from the sky?" Pepper blinked.
I looked up at a, what seemed like, a whale in the sky. "Pepper, look!" I pointed at the whale.
Pepper looked up and her eyes widened. "Those are the strange objects that keep taking some of the fishfolk! Come on!" She swam towards it.
"W-wait!" I lifted myself and swam behind her. "We are really close to the sky, Pepper... I don't think this is safe."
Pepper touched the bottom of the whale with her head. "It looks like Bill."
"Bill is a way bigger whale than this one." I shook my head and examined the whale. "It's awfully still. Hello? Are you a friend of Bill?" I swam around the whale as I asked. "Uh, I think his face is in the sky."
"Maybe-"
Suddenly the same creature came out of the sky. "Oh no! We have nowhere to hide!" I swam to the opposite side of the creature.
"Maybe if we swim fast enough, it won't see us swim towards the coral." Pepper suggested.
I nodded. "Okay. Let's go."
Pepper smiled. "Okay, ready? On three... One... two... three!" Pepper wrapped herself around one of my arms and I swam as fast as I could to the coral reef.
"Whew, we are safe." Pepper unwrapped herself and sighed in relief. "Maybe we should warn everyone." Pepper looked at the creature. "Oh no! It's coming towards us! Swim!"
I looked at the creature and my eyes widened. "Okay!" I grabbed Pepper and held her tight as I swam for it.
