Down Beneath the Surface

4 ~Sightings~

"Everybody! We have terrifying news!" Pepper yelled as we arrived back to my home.

Many fishfolk came out from the reef that surrounded my home. "What happened?" Sylvester crawled out from under a rock.

"A strange creature came from the sky and blinded me with a strange light!" Pepper started.

"And I think it has a whale under captivity. Though, the whale looked rather strange. It had no fins." I closed my eyes in thought.

"The creature even chased us!" Pepper swam in circles. "It was super scary!"

I nodded. "I need you all to stay away from the sky."

"But, I can't breathe unless I go to the sky." Rino's sister, Ally, is another dolphin in these waters.

"Okay. Hmmm... stay away from anything strange that is near the sky, okay?" I crossed my arms. "I don't want any of you getting captured or even worse, eaten by the strange creature."

"I saw a strange creature the other day." Nancy, one of the jellyfish that live around here, recalled. "The thing was preposterous! It attempted to touch me with its horrible filthy hands, no offense to you, my dear Melody."

"None was taken." I thought for a brief moment. "Did it try to grab you?"

Nancy scoffed. "That filthy thing touched one of my tentacles! Gladly I shocked its life out of him."

"Y-you killed it?" I brought my eyebrows together in worry.

"I wish I did." She pouted.

I sighed in relief. "Okay then. Where was it seen?"

Nancy squinted. "Well, I saw it next to my cave not far from here." She pointed with one of her tentacles. "Over there." I followed with my eyes where she pointed. It was very close to my home.

"Okay, everyone, if you see a strange creature that looks like me except with two slim tails with flippy thingies, contact me, got it?" I looked at everyone.

They all nodded.

"Be safe everyone! And good night." I waved them all off as I swam down to my home.

I swam through the opening and sat on my stone bed. I lifted my tail and rested it on the end of the stone.

"Good night, Mother... Father." I picked up the photo of me and my parents in front of the kingdom Melody before it disappeared. I held the photo tightly against my bare chest as I laid myself down on my bed.
