We hit the ground with quite a great speed but as it is a mysterious place, everything that happens here is unpredictable. The ground should be a hard surface but it compresses like a spring. We are going in the downward direction and our speed is decreasing gradually. What should happen is that when our speed becomes zero, we should suddenly move upward with the same speed with which we touched the ground. This is how spring systems work. But it doesn’t happen. The moment when our speed becomes zero, the ground slide opens and we fall into it and it gets closed again.
It’s a spooky dark place where there isn’t any existence of water. It’s dry like dessert. No one expected the existence of such a place under an ocean.
“Hello? Is anyone here” We hear a sound.
It’s Ian.
“Ian! We are here. Where is Ted?”
“Oh I’m here bro.”
“Ted, take out the torch light.” I say.
“I didn’t bring it.”
“You planned a journey like this and didn’t bring a torch light? Way to go dude!”
“I thought this will be an enlightened place. I didn’t know the folks here are admirers of darkness.”
Ugh. There are some times I really hate Ted. Sometimes I think he was born just to drive me crazy. Certainly, he is a friend.
Still I want to kill him sometimes.
We are now looking for some wood to start a fire. The temperature is so high in here. It shouldn’t be because almost a hundred feet above; on the surface of earth, the temperature was almost 2°C and suddenly it shoots up so swiftly. We are inside our earth
We don’t want to fire some woods in this hot temperature but; we don’t have any other option either.
We split there to find some wood. But I and Rebekah don’t split up. We are together trying to find some wood but more importantly;
We are trying to find some quite place away from Ian and Ted. We go as far as we could. We reach near something like-
Wall. We sit there in silence for two minutes. Rebekah is sitting right next to me. Very close to me. In fact, her arm is only a few inches away. I feel my face flushing.
Should I kiss her? Does she want me to? Or would that just be weird? I don’t know what I should do.
I imagine what could go wrong if I kiss her. She might freak out. Things might get uncomfortable and that’s the last thing I want.
Maybe I should-
She kisses me. Her lips are soft against mine. She presses herself against me and I feel her heart. It seems to be beating a million miles a minute. The moment is getting more romantic. Our noses are touching. She can feel the warmth of my breath brushing the top of her lip.
“What are you thinking?” She asks.
I am in love. That’s what I am thinking. But to say it would be so stupid.
“You know a few hours earlier, I was thinking about suicide but destiny wanted me to kiss a beautiful girl like you.”
She slaps me.
“Never think about suicide, idiot.”
“Hey do you believe in stuff like....curses.” I ask.
“Yeah I do but Ian doesn’t. He always makes fun of me when I talk about it. Do you believe?”
“Same problem here. I do believe but Ted doesn’t.”
“I think we should go back. They must be worried. And don’t let them know that we were together.”
While standing up, my shoe strikes the wall-
It makes a sound that only wooden things make. I knock on it for confirmation. It’s a wooden wall.
“Hey guys, over here! There’s a wooden wall here.” I shout but no response. We are too away from them.
“I think we should put this wall on fire.” I say.
“How are we gonna start a fire without any matches?”
“We are thousand miles below the ocean. There must be magnesium present on the walls in here. Just a little spark would be enough.”
“What if the ground also contains magnesium? The whole place will burn like hell then.”
“We got to risk it to get the biscuit.”
She chuckles. “But how are we gonna start the fire?”
“Like old times……Friction. But we need two small wood pieces.”
She looks here and there for a piece of wood to start fire with. She finds a large but slim piece of wood and brings it to me. I break the piece into two and start rubbing them to each other. I haven’t ever started a fire with wood before but I have seen over the internet. I keep rubbing them so rapidly that smoke starts coming out of it. We can’t see the smoke though we can smell it. After a couple of minutes, we see a fire. I am bringing the piece near to the wall. Turned out my prediction was correct. The wall had magnesium particles on it, and was made of wood. It caught fire and made us able to see stuff there. There shouldn’t be a romantic scene on places like these but again, it was a magical place. She looked way more beautiful in yellow light.
“Klaus is that you who started the fire?” I hear shouting Ted.
“You’re welcome!” I say.
“I don’t get it. Why only the wall had magnesium particles while the ground didn’t?” Rebekah asks.
“Because the ground has not been in water since forever......while the wall has been in water.” Ted says in such a way like he has been in here before.
“How can you say that?” I ask.
“Because it’s not a wall dumbass, it’s a ship. One of the ships that got lost in here about a half century ago.” Ted replies.
“Oh Boy! There’s no way we are ever gonna see the sunlight. There’s no way to get out of it.” Rebekah says in fear.
“There’s always another way sweetie. We just have to find it.” I reply.
