I woke up to the smell of coffee.
I tried to sit up, my right arm still aching and bandaged. Only then did I realize that I was inside a small house made of reeds, and I had been sleeping on a wooden bed.
Did the psycho natives catch us again?
But there were no thick ropes around my wrists or my ankles.
What happened?
I'm a hundred percent positive that I was sleeping outside, on the grass while Jacob was there on my lap.
I froze.
Jacob.
I tried not to panic.
He's gone.
And so is Camilla and Katherine.
I quickly shot out of bed, noticing that all of my belongings were gone. Everything except two of Katherine's rainbow knives that I hid inside my knee-length boots.
Great. I had nothing else but a knife and I can't even fight well with one hand.
I crept around the small room, looking for an advantage.
There was a small hole on one of the walls, I took a few steps until I was standing directly infront of it.
"We do not like Jefafa. He is evil. Terrorizing children and wives. Kills men. We thank you." I heard a man say. Probably a few years older than us. About 20 or so.
I peered through the small hole, seeing nothing but bright sunlight. It must be midday.
I took a few more steps so I can lean on the wall, but I lost my footing, and fell face first through the wall.
Yes, through the wall.
"Ouch." I exclaimed without emotions.
"Aly! What the hell?" I hear Camilla say.
Suddenly Camilla was beside me, along with Jacob, Katherine, and the man.
"You do realize that there's a door, right?" Katherine asks, her eyes were bloodshot but otherwise she was okay.
I just rolled my eyes and noticed the huge hole I made, and an old woman started cursing in spanish, saying that the wall was a horrible mess and how much her father worked to build the house.
"Sorry." I tell her, but she doesn't understand. She became more outraged, her son trying to calm her down.
"Lo siento." I translated, and she seemed to calm down a little bit, but she stomped off inside the house.
Jacob tried to help me stand up, but I provided a yelp and fell down on my butt.
"She twisted her ankle" Camilla states, and Jacob carried me to a small wooden bench.
Katherine sat down next to me while Jacob unlaces my boots, Camilla was giving me an apple and hands Jacob our first aid kit.
"Sorry for mother," the man says.
I looked at Katherine for an explanation.
"Oh. That's Modesto and that was his mother, Corina." She supplies, looking at the old woman who was eavesdropping on us.
"Hi?" I say, He just nods.
"Does he know much english?" I whispered to Katherine, she quickly nods and says, "Better than Jefafa."
Oh. That's enough for me.
I let them get back on their own conversation, I ate my apple as Jacob bandaged my ankle.
