Winds aggressively whip my hair around as I trek through my crowded high-school campus. At the snackbar, people are pressed against each other, all trying to squeeze to the front of the line, while others stand around and just talk. There are kids - freshmen, riding around upperclassmen on their scooters or penny boards.
I wrapped my cardigan around my body closely to keep from getting cold. I was looking around for a certain someone- you'd probably guess who by now. Gage. That's right.
It's been at least a whole week since i've seen him last, and I wanted to thank him again - for you know, saving my butt and my best friend's butt, and also giving me a ride home.
Tyson's ribs got bruised from his beating, so he has trouble moving around and breathing, and he isn't really up to going back to school any time soon either. He told Clara and I he'd probably be back in a week or two, just to let his body heal. His doctor also recommended he take some time off to relax mentally. His parents are still weird about him being gay and all, but it isn't as bad as the first two nights when he was released from the hospital, and they wouldn't even open their doors for him. He had to stay with Clara, and I came over to sleepover.
Lately, I haven't been spending many nights in my house either- I know, I know! Sadie, that sounds scandalous! But it isn't really, I swear- I've only been staying at Clara's.
My parents have been really uptight about scheduling more appointments for me, upping my dosages, and such, and such, and so I decided I was tired of it. And I am- I'm tired.
Of everything- really. But don't worry about me, anyways,
It's been a little streak for the past week - haha that rhymed.
Anyways, concentrate, Sadie! I kept coming home late, to the point where i'd just stick it out with Clara till the next day. Of course I tell my parents after I make the decision, but they're still upset about it because I don't tell them beforehand.
Lately I feel as if i've been growing apart from my parents. I don't know if that's really a bad thing.
I opted that Gage wouldn't be in such a crowded scenery, but I was proved wrong when I was walking down another body swarmed hallway and saw him in a corner, having a private conversation with a girl with short raven black hair and china bangs.
I instantly remember her as the girl who glared at me when I first cornered Gage to help me with his list. Jane- was her name, I'm pretty sure.
I got closer to the both of them, but stood a good distance so I wouldn't disturb their conversation. She only gave me a quick glance until her eyes met Gage's once again, and she seemed intent on listening to what he was saying.
Something swelled up inside of me as she stared into his eyes, but I shrugged it off.
"Excuse me" I said, my hands flat against my thighs, my shoulders stiff.
Gage's head snapped in my direction, his eyes pierced mine, his stare stone hard, "What?"
Jane stuck her little button nose with her cute little nose ring up at me in the air. She looked at me as if I was laundry she forgot to put in the wash.
I felt my ears burn and my face get hot, Jane was definitely judging me and checking me off as irrelevant. I wonder- are they. . close? Did I interrupt something important? Geez Sadie! You're being such a pest. .
"I- Uhm." I began to stutter, but then I remembered Gage asking me something along the lines of, "Can you fucking talk?" or something like that, and I tried to straighten out my diction.
