It's You

Lyka's POV

It seemed that Mark had sensed my 'jealousy' toward him and Lacey, since he suddenly had placed his arm around my shoulder. Without a word, we walked together to the Zipline station, Lacey paid for a solo ride, while Mark invited me to go along with him, then Courtney and Geneva. They all seemed to be excited, but here I am, in distress, in pure anxiety about being partnered with Mark on the zipline ride. It would be so 'un-Lyka' of me to be heard screaming over a thrilling ride. But just a gentle grasp on my hand made by Mark was enough for me to overcome my worry. Why does he do this to me? He's getting me all confused. He was all about me at the van, with Lacey in the cable car ride, and making my heart beat fast again for another time. And besides, I feel like I'm betraying my own feelings. I don't want this to happen, no, but when I look at him, I just feel like he is enough to colour my world.

Once it was Lacey's turn, she had gotten all-prepped by the zipline staff where she was asked to wear a helmet for safety, then being all tied up in cables which was connected to a strong type of cloth that was wrapped around the front of her body. She was adjusted into a horizontal position where she could experience the zipline as if she was about to fly like Wonderwoman.
The staff did a countdown from 3 to 1 and shouted 'bombs away' then they had released her. I heard her scream at the top of her lungs, enjoying her flying moment. When she was in the threshold of our sights, it was time for me and Mark to be all prepared. Like Lacey, basic preparations were done for us. We were also asked to put on helmets on our heads.
It wasn't another 5 minutes later when the assistants in the station released us, I held my breath for a moment and closed my eyes. As I open them slowly, I saw the breath-taking view of the cliff. We were traversing around half a kilometer from one mountain to another. I inhaled deeply and screeched, that gradually turned into a yell. Mark had been shouting from the moment we were released, and laughed suddenly at my reaction. Seeing him this happy satisfied me, as if the idea of waking up next to him everyday would make me feel contented with my life.
I had been holding the small digicam from when we were only being prepared for the ride. It had a lace where I tied around my wrist. The camera was given to me by my aunt four years ago when I graduated college. I know this thing isn't in trend anymore, since all people have are camera phones. But it's still working. I fidgeted on the power button which was hard to press when you're in an exhilarating ride with the one you like, but I've managed to turn it on. I set it up to video, and positioned it on my hand where the lens was facing our faces. He yelled toward the lens and said 'woohoo' a number of times while I just laughed and screamed my lungs out to the intensity of the ride. I'd never want this to end, I told myself in the head.

During lunch at the restaurant in E.A.T. Danao, we decided to call it a day and continue on with our group bonding back at the Alona Beach Resort. As we were all resting after we ate, I excused myself from the rest and dialed the delivery hotline of a popular local bakeshop to order a cake. I gave the address to the resort, since I am planning to give Mark a surprise party at the resort restaurant, which I intend to hold tonight.

I never thought that I would be this tired after little rides back at Danao, so I just opted to take a rest in the cottage, while I let the rest enjoy their dip in the pool. I don't worry about any Lacey and Mark close moments anymore, since I saw a special look in his eyes that only appear when we're together and when he looks into mine. Guess I would have to give up on Mr. Soultoucher. I had thought that my big admiration toward him was enough for me to be motivated to find him, but I feel someone else is better, who happened to be Mark. I sighed deeply as I sat in bed. I'm ready, I told myself.

It was 7 in the evening when Lacey woke me up. The first thing I saw was the box of cake on the table, which I had been delivered before I fell asleep this afternoon. She was more excited about my surprise, which I told her about, than I was at the moment.
'Fix yourself real quick!' She said with excitement in her eyes.
'Yes, yes, give me a minute.' I replied with groggy voice.
She sat on the bed while I fixed myself in the lavatory. Unlike most girls, it does not take a lot of time for me to prepare myself. I consider even five minutes a little too long for tonight's little event. I washed my face and dabbed on the towel gently. I put on some foundation and did my make-up quick and simple. When I was ready, I came out of the room with Lacey.

'Everybody's waiting for us already,' Lacey said, her excitement more evident than before.
As we approached the restaurant, I noticed that the place was dark.
'Oh no, brown out.' I said sadly with the cake in my arms.
Suddenly, a voice from the speaker was heard.
'Ladies and Gentlemen, let us all give a round of applause to our guest singer for tonight.'
A split second later, the instrumental music started. Then a singing came in.

There's a laugh in my eyes, there's a waltz in my walk.
And it's been a long time since there was hope in my talk.
If you never knew, what it is that's new,
It's you.

Tears start rolling down my face. I couldn't be mistaken. That voice belonged to someone special. Someone who has become dear in my heart in the past few days. Someone I had almost picked over Mark. Why now, why? I asked in my head. 'Mr. Soultoucher....' I gasped. Geneva and Courtney, who appears to be standing near me, were shocked as well.
'It's Mr. Soultoucher? It's him on the speakers?' Courtney asked, with great surprise in her tone.
'Yes.' I replied softly as my voice shook. 'Oh please, show yourself to me.'

The song continued on.
'Cause when your hands are in mine, you set a fire that everyone can see
And it's burning away every bad memory.
To tell you the truth, if it's something new,
It's you.'

After those lines, the lights were finally turned on. I got blind for a moment. I looked at the small stage. I almost fainted when I saw him holding the mic and kept on singing.

Oh, it's you in the morning,
It's you in the night.
A beautiful angel came down
To light up my life.

His eyes were tearing up, and I started sobbing. I can't believe what my eyes are seeing. Mark on the mic, looking straight at me, singing this very sweet song he sang with his whole heart. She could see the happiness in his eyes while both of us cried. While he kept on singing, he extended his hand toward my way as if to say I come up the stage with him. Lacey volunteered to carry the cake for me and i approached him, still crying. I wipe the tears away but they just could not stop from coming out of my eyes. It did seem that he couldn't contain his happiness because he suddenly stopped singing and hugged me tightly. I felt all his love for me, and this moment could not ever be enough for me to make him feel what I feel about all this.
'I've been dying to tell you all day,' He said with tearful eyes while his face was buried in my hair. He kept stroking it gently, like he had finally found true love in me. I was floating on air. All I could do was cry. And as I sob, he hugged me even tighter. I heard the crowd cheer for us, but they seemed to be far away, as if we have a little world of our own.

When he was back in composure, he carried on with the song, holding my hands tight as he kept on giving me loving glances every now and then.

'So if I get to grow old with many years behind me,
There's only one thing I want, one thing I need beside me.
For all that you are, for everything you do.
For all that you've done, just for showing me the truth....
It's you.
It's you.
Baby, it's you.'

He hugged me tightly like he never wanted to let me go. This time he buried his face in my shoulder. All I ever wanted was right beside me all along. I stroke his back gently.

As he stood backwards, it was like a cue for one of the waiters to hand him a red rose. He knelt down in front of me as he presented the rose to me. 'Will you be my loving girlfriend?' He asked with excitement and happiness in his eyes.
I am still kind of confused as to how all of these had happened. But the answer doesn't matter a lot now, all I care about is finally finding the love of my life.
'Yes,' I responded. I took the flower from his hand carefully. He stood up for another embrace which lasted like forever, while the people around us expressed their happiness through 'awws' and a round of applause.
