There are caves at the bottom of the mountain that the Leader of the herd goes in and talks with Light Herd to receive their right to lead their herd after the old leader dies.

Great oak: although there are not many trees, Gorge Herd does harbor a large oak. Many horses come there for shade when it's hot, and shelter when it's snowing.
