I could hear the bass pumping at Melissa's house from down the street as I parked my car and grinned to myself. Nothing like a good party to kick off senior year. Melissa was one of those girls who had a party every other weekend, and they were always an awesome time. Her parents are big shot agents for some famous actors, and let her get away with pretty much everything. The last time I came to a party at her house, her parents walked in, and instead of being mad at the state of mass destruction their house was in, they were disappointed Melissa didn't spring for a DJ, and just disappeared into their room. There is no way my parents would ever go for that, not even in my wildest dreams. It's kind of a bummer, cause my house would be an awesome party house. Even though my parents were gone all summer on a second honeymoon for their tenth anniversary, there was still no way in hell Jackson would let me throw a party at the house under his watch. He would rip me a new one, and the last thing I wanted was to mess with an angry marine.
I passed by a couple kids from my school on the sidewalk and nodded to them in acknowledgment . They were younger than me and we weren't friends, so I opted not to stop and talk to them right now. Maybe later.
"Max! You're here! Jimmy told me you were coming but you didn't come with him and I got worried. I waited and waited and waited." Melissa's voice rang out as I stepped into the house. I looked up and saw her giving me a pout. It quickly morphed into a grin and she jumped at me, wrapping her arms around my neck and her legs around my waist. I laughed as I caught her and gave her a tight squeeze. "Jimmy said you ditched everyone to go on the Ferris wheel by yourself. Since when do you like the Ferris wheel?" She asked as she slid her body off mine.
Melissa is one of the cheerleaders at FHS, and is probably one of the most entertaining girls I have ever met in my entire life. She's fun, she's flirty, hot as hell, and a total sweetheart. On top of all that, she's hilarious and brilliant. She's pretty much every guys dream girl. She's also 100% gay, and has absolutely no interest in any of the dozens of guys who throw themselves at her. I've been friends with her since middle school, and she is practically part of my family. She even babysits for Meghan's kids and once in a while, she'll come to Sunday dinner with us. Sometimes I really like the fact that she's not into guys, cause she is the only girl who does not try to get with me or any of my friends. We can just be ourselves with her and have a great time. She's also a valuable resource whenever I have questions about girls.
"I didn't ditch them for the Ferris wheel." I told her as I followed her to the kitchen to grab a beer.
"Not what I heard." She teased as she pulled herself into the counter and watched me open a can of bud light and take a sip.
"It's true. I swear." I told her. "I ditched them for a girl." I added, flashing her my signature smirk that had gotten me out of trouble so many times in my life.
She threw her head back and let out a laugh. "That's awesome. Who?"
"Some new girl named Andrea. We're even going to go to lunch tomorrow."
She gave me a smile. "That's awesome. You'll have to let me know how it goes on Monday. Is she going to our school?"
"I'm not sure. Honestly, I was having a good time and totally forgot to ask." I told her as I leaned against the counter next to where she was perched. "I mean, it was just a quick conversation, but she was cool, you know? It's not like I'm going to date or marry her. I'd just like to get to know her a little better."
She rolled her eyes at me. "Yeah, cause why would you ever want to settle down when you could just sleep around?" She taunted me.
I took another gulp of beer. "I don't sleep around." I corrected her. "I only sleep with Bianca. There's a difference."
