It was about thirty minutes into the train ride, and Ed was not a happy camper. He sat wedge beside Al and Mustang. Al was reading a book, and Mustang was looking like he was staring at particularly nothing out the window. He and Al were being escorted to Central upon the füher's orders since they'd been causing just a bit too much trouble in the Southern area. Ed, to say the least was extremely unwilling to want to go. However Al had all but dragged him onto the train since he believed disobeying the president was an awful idea, especially when they were already skating on some thin ice. Mustang was also being transferred to Central as a promotion.

'What a smug jerk. I get basically told off for helping everyone, and apparently that's causing too much of a problem, and he gets a promotion for doing nothing all the time. Justice is seriously a dead term.' Ed thought sourly to himself. He slouched further down in his seat, maybe he'd just transmute the whole car into aluminum foil. Can't exactly ride foil to Central. The train was practically empty anyways, only a handful of people were in the car with them and that was Mustang's crew. Hawkeye and Havoc sat across from Ed, Al, and Mustang.

Ed glanced out the window, They'd be passing a town soon. He'd been boredly going over the map, yawning to himself. He usually slept on trains, so he was in the habit of just clocking out the second he sat down. But he wasn't exactly in the mood to have his face doodled on with a sharpie by Havoc or Mustang. But Hawkeye was here, surely she wouldn't let them mess with him. Either way, he was getting off the train in about an hour whether he was allowed to or not. So maybe sleeping right now wasn't a smooth idea. Ed yawned again, he didn't even realize he had been dozing off until his head hit Mustang's shoulder, he jerked his head up muttering an apology to Mustang who probably just gave him a smug grin. After about the third time of hitting his head against Mustang's shoulder, he must've been getting pretty annoyed because as Ed went to sit back up, Mustang sighed and pulled Ed to place his head back against his arm and shoulder.

"Ed, as much as I enjoy this little routine of yours I'm gonna have to ask you to just go to sleep already, because I'd rather not have a bruise on my shoulder from your thick skull." Mustang said, annoyance and sarcasm oozing off his words.

"I'm not going to sleep, I just genuinely wanted to hit your shoulder several times." Ed said back, in a moody tone.

"Right, because you plan to get off at the next stop huh?" Mustang asked, as Ed made no move or attempt to sit back up, leaning against Mustang.

"Yeah actually, I do." Ed snapped.

"Right, please you think I wouldn't have taken more precautions if I didn't know you prefer to nap on trains Edward?" Mustang asked annoyedly.

"Last I checked, you don't generally go on train rides with me. So you don't know crap." Ed stated

"No, but I had a conversation with your brother on whether I should have you sedated during the trip, because I'm not dumb enough to believe you'd come willingly, but he informed me that you usually end up falling asleep within an hour of the trip." Roy said, smirking.

"Al! That's a complete lie!" Ed said, as he sat up, clearly about to make this some kind of challenge.

"No it isn't brother, you always end up falling asleep on trains.. It does make the trip easier if you aren't getting into trouble.." Al said, flipping a page in his book.

Ed let out an angry sound, before going silent. Presumably mentally cursing everyone around him. Mustang went back to gazing out the window, bored now. He was getting lost in thought, daydreaming about when he'd become the leader of the country when he felt a thump against his shoulder. Sure enough, Ed was back to trying to stay awake. Seriously, Roy was gonna slug the kid in his shoulder and see how he liked it. He snapped the second time it happened this time and yanked Ed to where he fell back against his arm when the kid went to jerk back up.
"Hawkeye, will you hand me my coat please?" Mustang asked, holding his free hand out as his lieutenant handed him his black trench coat which he draped over Ed, hoping to encourage the runt to just go to sleep and spare his shoulder anymore harm.
Ed looked like he was going to attempt to sit back up again, but once Roy had him covered up in the coat he gave up.
Mustang gave a silent sigh of relief, and after a few minutes he was sure Ed was asleep when he was completely slumped against Roy.

Roy woke up when he heard a loud clap of thunder. He hadn't even realized he'd fallen asleep, moving his head off the window, and glazed out it. Sure enough, it was storming out. it was also pretty dark and gloomy now, Ed was still asleep, nestled up to Roy, like he was snuggling up to him. Roy had to bite his tongue to refrain from waking the boy up and teasing him mercilessly.

Roy looked across from his seat, Hawkeye was still awake and was playing cards with Alphonse, Brenda, Hughes, and Havoc. Roy cleared his throat a bit before speaking.

"What time is it?" He asked, shifting to sit up a bit more careful to not disturb Ed.

"It's 7:27pm Roy. You were only asleep about 3 hours." Hughes replied, smiling to his friend.
Roy nodded, his right arm stiff and sore from Ed leaning on it so long.

"You guys want to help me move him off me for a minute? I've lost all feeling in my arm other than pain." Roy grunted.

"sure Colonel, Hawkeye's been winning my whole paycheck anyways..." Havoc said, cigarette dangling at his lips. Brenda got up with him, and the two walked across the aisle to Roy and they began to move Ed gently.
Ed began to stir in his sleep, thinking Al was waking him up to get off the train.

"'M up Al.. Lemme grab my stuff.." Ed slurred, barely awake, and starting to try and get up.

Roy stood up, while Brenda and Havoc laid Ed down on the seat, who soon fell silent, having gone back asleep.

Roy shifted his shoulder, wincing a bit. Before going over to where the rest of his men were seated, he sat down next to Hughes and no sooner had he just leaned back did Hughes shove a photo to his face.

"Took some pictures today with my new camera my amazing wife Gracia got me for my birthday last week, she's a goddess Roy." Hughes rambled, while Roy took the picture, Hughes held out to hin and looked at it.
Roy was asleep in the photo, leaning against the window while Ed was nestled up against him, swallowed by Roy's trench coat he'd draped over him earlier.

"Hughes, it's rude to take unconsented photos of people." Roy sighed, but he'd keep the picture it'd make for good blackmail against his stubborn subordinate. At least that's what Roy told himself. He worried about the kid and in this picture he didn't seem like he was carrying the world on his shoulders. He just looked like a kid, calm and peaceful.
Roy sighed, the road seemed to stretch on for years before he'd reach his destination, but he had his men and plenty of time. Roy could be a patient man if he tried.
