I thought I loved you
because it was October last year when we met
and I fall in love with everything in October.
And your eyes remind me of the green forest that I'd play hide and seek with sunshine rays in
when it's summer and sunshine spills everywhere.
And then I thought I loved you
because looking into forest green eyes reminded me of something
that I longed for.
I thought I loved you
because you toss your head up towards the heavens when you laugh
and I know gods of any power could be envious of a laugh
so ground movingly proud.
And then I thought I loved you
because the rhythm in your heart always changed the melody in your voice,
and talking to you
was like listening to my favorite songs for the first time.
Knowing I'd play them over and over again in my head until I learned the words and could sing along too.
And then I knew I loved you
when I could look at all of my favorite things
and instantly compare them to you.
