Garden Rose.

She is twirling down city streets,
growing roses wherever she pleases.
She is taking her power with the ease of picking wildflowers that grow out of cracks in the cement.
Unstoppable, is this woman who knows what she wants
in a bitter world who doesn't know how to forgive her for finally taking it.
She's not looking for forgiveness or validation.
She knows with every fiber of her body that glitters gold
that by becoming everything she wanted to be
she wasn't taking away your power,
you just weren't brave enough to be as bright against a dark sky that is so judgmental.
So I tell her she's brave.
And she will keep growing into the garden rose I know she is
and you will always be too afraid of her thorns to come near something so beautiful.

She created her own roots
in a city full of sidewalks.
