The pool water assaulted my open mouth in ways that should be illegal. I tried muttering words like "Holy shit," but all that escaped my lips were gargles. Did I mention that I have not the slightest idea on how to swim? No? Well, this was a fantastic plan, Lilah!

My arms waved dangerously up in the air, catching only wind and causing me to almost drop Declan and Will. Someone emitted a groan from somewhere behind my back, then I suddenly felt strong hands lifting me up onto the ice-blue deck alongside the two people nestled inside my death grip. I choked as I did an about-face. Jamison Parker was smiling down at me, tentatively. He had a bruise that ran along his nose and down to his lower lip.

Everything came rushing back then; last night spent with Harrison after we made love, waking up just to find myself back at Lucas' house, the fight with Lucas resulting in a fire and ultimately his death. Oh, my God, I killed Lucas St. Clare. I killed my lunatic rapist!

After three years of torment, I bested him. The realization had me swaying from overwhelming relief on my feet. Abrupt tears pulled at these brown irises, like a flowing river. "I'm sorry," I mumbled, turning away. Jamison held me firm in his arms, unrelenting. "No, no, let go! I said let me go!" Attempting to wriggle out of his grasp was futile. So, I just sobbed into my father's chest; ugly-crying.

"It's okay," Jamison whispered. "You're safe now, my sweet girl. You're with me," he murmured, a lump in his throat. I looked up into those pools of blue and hoped against hope that he was right. "You have your mother's eyes, Delilah Lana Marie Parker. The one thing you obtained from me is fundamental, if not crucial. Strength."

It hit me as Jamison said those words. "You really are my father," I stated. He smiled, luminous and shy all at once. Not unlike mine. "Yes, darling."

I barreled into his arms once more.
