Chapt 1
There are so many reactions as to when you see a couple together. It doesn't matter what they're doing, there are three reactions. Either you feel disgusted or annoyed or you wished it was you with a certain someone or even you pity the couple and hope you'll never have to go trough it.
"Leave me alone, David!"
"It wasn't what you think."
As I watched the drama unfold between the two, I can't help but wonder how should I end it?
"What? Are you telling me that I didn't see what I saw? That you weren't busy making out with that slut?"
Humans are judgmental, that's one of the first things I noticed about them. They judge things from one certain point instead of more. They prefer to believe what they see rather than the truth itself.
"She came on to me," his voice started to crack slowly. "Can we please talk about this?"
Anyone could see that he was slowly crumbling inside. But if there was an audience surrounding them, they would notice the guilt in the girl's eyes.
"I can't do this anymore," she told him, tears streaming down her face.
"Amber, please, the kiss meant nothing," the desperation was clear in his voice. "Don't leave me. Without you, I'm nothing. I'm incomplete. Please don't leave me."
Tears started forming as I heard him say all that.
"I can't do this to you anymore," she whispered.
"W-what are you talking about? You did nothing wrong, love," he said, trying to hold her.
She pulled back quickly when she realized it, "No David! You're a sweet guy, a really caring one."
She smiled trough her tears as she said that, "You don't deserve me. You don't deserve someone who cheated on you."
"Cheated?"
"David, I'm pregnant."
The desperation, the need on his face vanished and was instantly replaced with shock.
"W-what?"
Those two words always somehow managed to change a guy's mind. The promises and all words said before we're forgotten. No matter how caring and sweet they were, the two words change so many things in so many relationships.
"I'm pregnant," she repeated, slowly examining his expression.
"Who's the father?" the worry and nervousness in his voice were clear.
Though, the worry were more clearer. He was worried that the child was his. That he had to take responsibility for it. That he had to take care of a child with a girl he just met a month ago. Yes, he was worried but for all the wrong reasons and she knew it.
"I don't think you want to know," she said, trying to make eye contact which he's avoiding.
"Well..."
"We can still be friends," she offered one of the universal lies.
"I guess. But will you be okay?"
She wiped her tears away and smiled at him, "Don't worry about me."
He gave a nod and turned to go back in, to go back to the other girl. Amber stood there watching him leave and as soon as he was gone, she let the tears flow back, this time more freely.
At times like this, I hate being a Cupid. You have to watch a person being heartbroken all the while knowing it was partially your fault. Knowing that you played a part in breaking a heart even if she doesn't know it.
