'Why?'

I opened my eyes feeling tired beyond hell. The sun wasn't even up and it was only moonlight that didn't make me blind.

I checked my phone seeing the bright large numbers jump up at my face.

5:30am

I groaned wiping my eyes sitting upright. I've been rolling around all night gaining no sleep, so meh not much point in trying. I got up getting changed into something a little different. I got my grey hoodie and some baggy black jeans with pure black and white tinted sneakers.

I continued wiping my eyes tiredly walking out of my room packing my satchel. When I went to get a snack I saw my mom's old nerve pills in the back of the cupboard. I grabbed them almost unconsciously reading the label:

2 When Needed. Out Of Children's Reach.

I leaned back taking a look at the hall. No one around but me, I stuffed the pills in the corner of my satchel sipping it up. I took a deep breathe my heart pounding. I wrote a note mouthing the words as I wrote slowly.

Went to school early don't worry! Haven't been kidnapped yet. I'll be walking home again and home at 4:30 like yesterday.

I put the note on the counter where it would be clearly seen. I walked out the house a lot less careless walking down the driveway out into the street. I continued to walk the night sky slowly turning brighter and brighter by the minute.

I arrived at school around half past six and now had to wait for at least two hours and a half. Great.

I sat down on the steps looking at the different areas. The schools setting was simple. One block for science and math, another for physical education, another for culture and English then one more for techs.

I stared at the culture and English block thinking of the woman again. Watching everyone pass to get to early classes made me feel pretty lazy. I didn't do anything after or before school let alone find a passion yet.

I sighed shuffling out of everyone's way eventually getting up myself to get to class an hour early. I had history so at least I would be alone for half an hour. When I arrived the chairs were all down and the desks were in groups.

I thought we had a test?

I shrugged sitting in the middle front desk group. I checked that I was alone then flipped open my sketchbook. I stared at the blank page next to the key. I sighed getting out my pencil then closing my eyes. I couldn't feel my pencil move so I forced it.

I opened my eyes quickly feeling a sting course through my right hand making me stagger in surprise. My pencil was still upright and no one was around. I took a deep breathe closing my eyes again.

Still, my pencil didn't move and I felt frustrated. Suddenly this grey image began appearing. It was blurry but I could make out a hallway with a metal door at the end. I jumped again hearing screaming and banging on the other end of the door. Then a hand laid itself on the door a voice calmly asking,

"Why?"

I opened my eyes once the image faded and the voice was no longer audible. I couldn't tell what the gender was but still sent chills up my spine.

I  looked at my pencil again noticing the image had drawn itself but no words. There was one little detail put into it though. The door had initials on it but still, I couldn't read them. I squinted hard trying my best when I heard someone walk through the door.

"Morning Dasher, you're here early." My history teacher, Mr. Lou, greeted me.

"Uh yeah..." I forced a smile putting away my sketchbook taking out my history text and workbook.
