The world around me was rocking in the slow motion comparable to the one of a ship. I stood up, realizing I was much shorter than usual. I looked down at a white sundress with purple flowers. I look back up to see my mom standing next to the boat's railing in a yellow romper.
''Come, Alexsa, we may see dolphins!'' My father told me.
''YAY! I love dolphins!'' I say in a small baby voice, much to my surprise.

I woke up in a cold sweat, to beeping sounds and fluorescent lights. I looked around and saw a worried face with silver eyes and strawberry blonde hair.
''Alexsa! I was so worried!'' He said in a scottish accent before he stepped out for a moment and came back with two others who looked to be his age. One boy with raven hair, just like mine, paired with ocean blue eyes. There was also a girl, with soft auburn hair and green eyes, that were shiny from tears.
''Are you okay?'' The girl said.
''Where am I?''
''The hospital. Your dad beat you again, but you fell unconscious. He heard you scream and called us when he saw you passed out.'' she said, pointing at the blonde boy.
''Sorry, but who are you?''
They all looked shocked, the girl with the green eyes and the raven haired boy were crying. The blonde kept repeating 'no' over and over again before taking my face in his hands, and looking deeply into my eyes.
''Alexsa, It's me, Ezra, we met in detention yesterday?'' He said with despair in his voice. ''Im blind, and you helped me pick up the pencil I dropped?''
''I'm really sorry, but I have no idea who any of you are.'' I said. The blonde, Ezra, Dropped his hands and he also started to cry quietly.
''Look guys, I have no idea who you are, and I just want to see my mom.''
They all stopped sobbing, and stared at me with shocked expressions of disbelief painted across their faces.
''You really don't remember?'' The raven haired boy said.
''No...'' I said hesitantly.
''Alexsa, your mom passed away 8 years ago.''
My vision blurred with tears. She can't be gone!

I was discharged 3 days later, but still not remembering anything, I asked many questions about myself. I came to terms with my amnesia 2 days ago, and I wanted to remember, but a wall was blocking my thoughts, so to speak. Anna, who I learnt was the green-eyed girl, and my best friend said I couldn't go home in case my father was there, but she still wanted me to stay close to my house, so I could get clothes. Therefore, I stayed at Ezra's, who apparently was my neighbour. Anna went to my house to get my stuff while I met Ezra's parents and his brother, Harry. Who looked nothing like Ezra.
Anna came back with a duffel bag of stuff, and a novel entitled 'Birdsong'.
''Here, this sis some stuff for you.'' She said handing me the duffel bag and novel. ''This novel represents a scarring moment of your past, reading it might jog your memory.''
''Ok, thanks!'' I said. I went back in, and unpacked the stuff into the dresser in the guest room I was borrowing.

I sat down on the small couch and opened the book, eager to maybe get my memories back. It's been a week, but I misplaced the book shortly after receiving it. I opened it and a small envelope, darkened with age fell out. It had my name, Alexsa, written in beautiful calligraphy. I opened it and a letter fell out with a silver chain. The chain had a pendant engraved H.M - A.M with a small heart-shaped diamond in the center. It must mean my mother and I. It looked very familiar, but I couldn't say why. I unfolded the letter, and it read, in the same beautiful calligraphy :
''Dear Alexsa, I give this necklace to you, because it represents love for one another in a family. I wore it until I thought you were old enough for it. This letter is to tell you something very Important. I want to tell you, that you were not my only child. Two years before you were born, I had a son, his name is Harry. Unfortunately, I was unable to work at the time, because I had maternity leave, and your father had been fired. We were always struggling to make ends meet, but we managed. When Harry was born, we couldn't afford to care for him. We sadly had to put him up for adoption. When you were born, we were back on our feet again, and I was sent the address of Harry's new home a few months later. I couldn't bring myself to see him, because it was my fault he wasn't with his real family. His address is 1513 Clairbourne road, In Malibu and he is living with the Devon's. I hope someday you will find him and show him this.
Love, Beatrice Martin.''
I was at a complete loss for words, suddenly, my head began to ache and by vision turn black before I fell to the ground , the letter in my hand, chain around my neck.
