Desert Night

The road stretched out before her
She has flowers in her hair

She would give anything to anyone
to be anywhere but there

Stars shine bright
In the desert at night
Coyotes stop and stare

Saguaros bewitch the lonely ones
Who aren't used to the cool night air

Joshua trees are walking
And though she shouldn't be scared
She bounds away on sinewed legs
Long like the sandy hare

The desert at night
Is mysterious, right?

She knows why it is,
But where?
