Let's just say I was extremely glad to get up to the castle. Young Allegra was a terrible chatterbox but she was still quite sweet. After a while, I had managed to convince her to go and join her friends so I could find mind.
"hey harry, hey Ron" I called, sitting down at the Gryffindor table. The great hall looked exactly as I remembered it, impressive. Yes it was still impressive yet it was haunted almost, by the memories of all those we had lost, lying dead on the floor.
Luckily, we weren't waiting long. It seemed as if I had been sat for a second or two before the doors of the great hall burst open and Hagrid led a group of terrified first year's between the Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw tables. Mcgonagall stood up and walked over to where a dusty old hat was sat on a rickety wooden stool. A rip opened and the sorting hat began to sing.
Climb up upon the stool,
Pull me down around your ears;
I’ll reveal the new beginning
Of your magical careers.
And as you disperse to Houses
Where your new friends welcome you,
Keep in mind the world is looking
For a new beginning too.
For each House to play a part
In the rebuilding that’s ahead,
You must all resist the follies
That have left so many dead.
Clever Ravenclaws: remember,
As your education starts,
All your knowledge comes to nothing
If you fail to use your hearts.
Faithful Hufflepuffs, take heed:
While it is noble to be true,
You must keep your eyes wide open;
Know the ones your loyal to.
Cunning Slytherins, be watchful:
Your ambition won’t come free;
Those who claim the greatest power
Claim responsibility.
Valiant Gryffindors: though battle
Has a time and place that’s right,
There are times when even warriors
Make peace without a fight.
As you go to forge your futures
Please remember what has passed,
Or the peace your friends have fought for
Will not be a peace that lasts.
Work together, help each other,
Banish thoughts of laying blame;
Though your banners may be diff’rent,
Deep inside you’re much the same.
I watched as the new first year's were sorted into there houses. Harry, Ron and I clapped along with everyone else when a new Gryffindor made their way over to our table. There were many Gryffindors this year. As soon as the last student - Lily Yedale - was sorted into Ravenclaw, professor mcgonagall beckoned two more girls forward.
They looked to be seventh years. The first one was tall with bright green eyes and bright ginger hair. The second was smaller with piercing blue eyes and short, chin length brown hair. "this is Maria Martinez and Aliona Moreau and they have transfered from Beauxbatons and are seventh years" announced mcgonagall "Maria". The redhead walked forward confidently as the sorting hat was placed on her head. "GRYFFINDOR" it yelled instantly and Maria came over to our table as Aliona was called up. She looked nowhere near as confident as Maria. The hat sat for a while, humming and muttering to itself before calling out "GRYFFINDOR". Aliona looked surprised but came to join us.
