"The Enchanted Eyes"
-Chapter 6
-Questions UnansweredA boy is currently sleeping in his bed. The alarm on his phone minutes away from sounding to wake him up. Today is going to be the first day of him being a first year at the prestigious school he is currently attending.
He is alone. There is no one else living in his place - a room he rents in a 10 floor apartment building. He lives in one of the rooms on the 6th floor.
He is about to wake up...
???'s POV:
*Beep beep, beep beep*
The boy opens his eyes and proceeds to get up from his bed. He then stands up and goes to his drawer to turn off the alarm he set for himself. He seems to stay silent.

It's been about 20 minutes since the boy woke up. He has prepared and eaten his breakfast along with a hot cup of coffee.
It is quite early for the boy to wake up. The sky is still dark and only a few vehicles have started to drive by in the road below. Presumably people who have early work hours.
The boy has no reason to be waking up at such an early time in the day. He has already finished preparing the things he needed for school, along with his uniform, on the night beforehand.

The boy seems to currently be entangled in a book. He has been reading for almost an hour now. Only sometimes is he distracted by a photograph hanging from a fixture in a wall. It shows an image of a young boy, along with two larger figures. It looks to be this young boy's parents. The young boy is smiling in the picture. He looks to be bursting with happiness in the moment the picture was taken.
The boy smiles as he looks at this photograph. It seems to be bringing back memories. Memories of the times he had with his parents. It appears as if his father is now working abroad, probably to support him and his studies. He then sheds a tear. He remembers the events that happened when he was a child. Events that happened during the same date as today, only many years back.

Years in the past, a young boy and his mother were walking back home, after a day spent in an amusement part, which the boy had loved. They were only a few minutes away from their home. It was quite dark, since the young boy had been persistent with not wanting to leave yet.
The road beside them only had a few vehicles driving by every once in a while. The mother was calling the boy's father to let them know that they'll be home soon. The father has only just finished his work hours and is heading home as well.
This caused the mother to slow down her walking which had the young boy running a fair few meters ahead.
The boy had then noticed the sidewalk getting brighter. There was some light illuminating from behind him. Before he could fully turn his head to see what this light was, there was a large sound that boomed, causing him to fall back and flinch.
He opened his eyes to a horrific sight. A bus had crashed a couple meters behind him. He was thankful that this didn't hit him. But, then he wondered where his mother went.
"Mama! Where are you?" The young boy shouted, with no answer. He then walked up to where the bus had crashed, being young at the time and short as he was, he was unable to see the dead and injured passengers inside the bus. He then went to the area where the bus collided. He was horrified...
"M-Mama..?" he muttered with fear as he saw his mother, limp, bloody, and lifeless, crushed by the bus against the area it had collided with.
Only a few moments passed when sirens blared and vehicles surrounded the area. The young boy had no idea what was happening and wondered whether his mother was okay or not.
He was escorted away from the area by an officer. The officer had called a number on the mother's contacts after confirming that the phone indeed belonged to the boy's mother.
The young boy wondered why this person was taking him away from his mother and why they asked if the phone they took from the ground next to his mother belonged to her.
The boy's father had then come and picked up the boy for them to go home. The boy wondered why his father was suddenly there, and why they were leaving mommy behind.
When they got home, the boy asked his father many questions. "Why was mommy sleeping?" "Who were those people? Were they trying to wake up mommy?" "Why did mommy have red water on her? Was she taking a bath?" were some of the questions. The father remained silent after each one and told the boy to go to bed and sleep, and that his mommy won't be coming back for a while.

It was only when he grew up that the boy realized what truly happened. He remembers when his father showed him the newspaper released after that night. Apparently there was a robber on the bus that crashed that night. He was demanding money from all of the passengers but noticed that the driver was phoning for help. He screamed at the driver to stop and he shot him in the arm. Failing to realize that this would make the driver lose control of the wheel that would lead to the crash. Most of the passengers only went with minor and major injuries, with only 2 people dying. But the bus had apparently crashed into a woman that had been walking in the sidewalk the bus crashed in. This woman was the boy's mother, who had been phoning her husband when the bus crashed into her.

The boy went into depression, and his father turned to alcoholism for his problems, which the boy had hated.
Every night, when his father would return home in the boy's sleep, after a night of alcohol. His father would beat him with his belt while shouting at him for being the reason why his wife died. He shouted how he could have just walked with her to get her to walk faster instead of just running forward and leaving her to die.
Because of this, the boy had always blamed himself for his mother's death. His father eventually went abroad to work a better job. He even has a new woman now. But he still remains in touch with his son and sends him money every few months to pay for his studies.

The boy then closed the book he was reading and went outside to get some fresh air.
He went to the balcony and stared at the early morning sky, which was still dark. He felt as if he could scream and let it all out but he didn't, to not disturb the neighbors. He cried inside, still blaming himself.
"If only I could see her again, even at least once," he said to himself.
And it was at that moment that it happened. As his eyes turn blue and his vision fades.

A/N:
Hello there! It's been a month since I last updated this story and I finally found some time to be able to write more of it again. I've been really busy with school these past few weeks, and even during this short vacation, so I couldn't really think of what I could write next. 😅
This chapter's a little short compared to the others, but that's mostly because it's the first of the 5 chapter arc that's happening. This one's more of an introduction to a character that needs their own development. 😁
I can't really say when I'll be able to write another chapter, since we're probably gonna have more school activities and projects, but I'll try to when there's time and I have inspiration. 😆
Well, that should be it. This story now has more reads than I expected it to have and that's really unexpected! Thanks to all the amazing people who decided to read this story I made up in my head once. Well, until the next chapter! 😄
