Chapter 2.
Sarah's POV.
I felt the tears streaming down my face as I urged James to run. Why can't he just be selfish for once in his life. I was trapped by fire. it was all around me. 'what a terrible way to die' my inner shifter said. Yes, I'm a shape shifter. weird huh? I guess I could shape shift into a bird and fly out of here but that would against my pleadge as a shape shifter. You see when a shifter turns 16 they get their powers and take a pleadge. In the pleadge you pretty much say that you cannot reveal to anyone what you unless they are you your mother, Father, husband, wife, children, part of the shifters group (other shifters) or our mate, who is like our soulmate kinda thing. pretty much you would rather die then tell someone else what you are. We would feel like a thousand bones were breaking at once and we would just be in amazing pain. So you can see why no one breaks the pleadge.
James is running around trying to find a way out for me. He looks so tired. He is coughing loudly and i can see the burn marks on him. I am crying so much. Then he falls to his knees and i know he is about to pass out. finally. then i can fly out and then i can drag him away. I whisper "I love you" and then he passes out. i crouch down and think of a bird, its feathers and the way it can fly away. i feel the pain in my back as i grow wings, as i grow a beak and my eyes can now see everything a lot better. Im a small red bird. any thing i change into always has a bit of red/orange because my hair is my most unique feature. I jump with my small legs and im flapping my wings in the air. I fly out of the fire and go back down next to James. I shape shift into my self again. I slowly brush my hand aganist his cheek. I loved him so much. But I can only find my mate at 18 so i didnt know if we were mates or not.
I begin pulling him to the small opening we saw before. gosh he was heavy. I used all my strength getting him to a safe spot. once i did, i prepared myself to go get help but hten i heard a rustling in the trees. I turn around and stand in front of James. My eyes were darting everywhere, then i heard a growl. My blood turns cold. it couldnt be a werewolf could it. oh please don't be a werewolf, i hate those guys. then i saw Rhys emerge out of the treeline, coughing. he is a year younger then James and I, only Just 16. He has just started to get shape shifting powers and has been hanging around me for a while, so i can help him if needed. i run to him and hug him, i thought he left us.
"Sarah!" he exclaimed, going wide eyed.
"yes, yes, its me Rhys, what are you doing?" i say, pulling him away from the burning bush and take him near James.
"I-I- I ran from you, thinking that you were behind me and then i realised you werent and i came back to find you guys and then i heard the growling and i ran" he rushed out his words i barely caught on. oh dear lord. there are werewolfs here.
"what are you doing here" i hear a deep voice say, i jump and turn around. a tall, dark haired man was standing next to James and and looking at me. He looked around about 21.
"I-we-uh, Wwe are trying to get out of here." I stuter out. he just looked at me, then Rhys and then finally to James. "Dont touch him." I growled, feeling the need to turn into a tiger, my strongest and favourite shift.
"is he you mate" the tall man asked, smirking.
"no, I am not old enough to mate yet." i snap back. he is acting like there isnt a god damn fire behind us. "Like i said, we need to get out of here. if you havent noticed there is a fire behind us and i dont feel like dieing today." I hold my head high and walk towards James and the tall man, pulling Rhys with me.
"well i can help you get out, I know this forest better then you and you know that, I know what you are, i can smell it on you." H blocks my way to James. I mentally through him in the fire. He does have a point though. he does know the way pretty well.
"we can't trust him, he's a werewolf." Rhys whispers behind me. i nodd to say i agree.
"that kid behind you does know i can hear him, right? I have great hearing skills." he is still standing infront of James. "I can tell your friend the way out so he can got get help. he wont be strong enough to carry this bloke." he says kicking James. I hiss at him. Im so close to turning into a tiger and throwing him into the fire, which is still brining behind us and getting too close for my liking.
" why cant you show US and help US carry him?" Why does he jsut say Rhy's name?
"now, i cant do that." i just look at him
"you see, I was sent out here by your leader, Elpha. She is making some arragangment and needs you to come."
"why would she send a wolf?" I cock my head to the side.
"because the Arragment is between you and a certain wolf." he grins evily. what the hell?
"and whhat would happen if i dont come?" i ask, no way am i going somewhere with a wolf, even for Elpha.
He looks towards James. "I kill him." my blood is hot but cold and i feel my heart stop. no. he would not hurt James. I would have to apear missing. oh gosh.
"...Fine" i answer reluctently. The tall man smiles widely. he walks over to me and throughs me over his shoulder.
"now, im gonna have to knock you out. dont worry ill show your little friend the way and make sure all is well." i gasp
"wha-" and then it goes black.
