All of that wisdom hails
She was brains with no beauty
Looking straight into his smouldering eyes
With every ounce of pride she could gather

He was a cavalier
A Knight with rusted armor
His fallacies amused her
His beauty put men to shame

When she touched and felt his cool skin through her palms,
His course but warm hands she held
The things she did to profess her love
The beauty was too proud and overbearing

She told him to be careful and come back alive
Like an ignorant fool, he dismissed her
But he was certain he would
He made a promise he couldn't keep

She'd seen men with power,
She'd seen men with honour
And men if not more but wise as she was
Men who were beautiful, conventionally or otherwise

But she never missed a day bringing
flowers to his grave
To see him everyday and breathe the
same air as him till her last .
