I woke up in a different room. It was a small room with black walls and floor and it was dimly lit. As I stood up, I saw the screen on the wall and in the middle of the room was a light brown wooden coffin with brass handles and no lid.
The doors then open and in walk Sherlock, John and Mycroft. "You okay?" Sherlock asked, in which I simply nodded. I looked to the lid of the coffin which was propped up against the far wall. I was curious as to what this room was. John patted my shoulder, in which I gave a small smile.
"One more minute on the phone," Eurus said.
"Frightened. I'm really frightened." The little girl said. Sherlock closed his eyes.
"It's okay, don't worry. I don't have very long with you, so I just need you to tell me what you can see outside the plane."
"Just the sea. I can see the sea."
"Are there ships on it?"
"No ships. I can see lights in the distance."
"Is it a city?"
"I think so."
Sherlock turned and looked at John who is standing beside him at the side of the coffin. I was standing at the end of the coffin whilst Mycroft, stood at the other side.
"She's about to fly over a city in a pilotless plane. We'll have to talk her through it." Mycroft spoke quietly.
"Through what?" John asked.
"Hello? Are you still there?"
"Still here. Just give us a minute." Sherlock replied to the girl.
"Getting the plane away from any mainland, any populated areas. It has to crash in the sea." I said, understanding where Mycroft was coming from. John looked at me, not believeing what I was saying."What about the girl?"
"Well, obviously, Doctor Watson, she's the one who's going to crash it." Mycroft said firmly.
"No. W-we could help her land it."
"And if we fail, and she crashes into a city? How many will die then?"
"How are we gonna get her to do that?" John questioned. Mycroft looked down at the coffin for a moment whilst saying "I'm afraid we're going to have to give her hope."
"Is there really no-one there that can help you? Have you really, really checked?" Sherlock asked the girl loudly.
"Everyone's asleep. Will you help me?"
"We're going to do everything that we can."
"I'm scared. I'm really scared."
"It's all right. I ..." The phone call cuts off. Eurus was now on screen."Now, back to the matter in hand," She leaned closer to the camera. "Coffin. Problem: someone is about to die. It will be – as I understand it – a tragedy."
Sherlock walked around to the head of the coffin, rubbing the thumb of his gun hand over his brow as he turns to look at it.
"So many days not lived, so many words unsaid." Eurus looked away from the camera with a fake sad expression. "Et cetera, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera."
"Yes, yes, yes, and this – I presume – will be their coffin," Sherlock said exasperatedly.
"Whose coffin, Sherlock? Please, start your deductions. I will apply some context in a moment."I looked at it closely, it had to be someone close, or well known, by Sherlock.
"Well, allowing for the entirely pointless courtesy of headroom, I'd say this coffin is intended for someone of about five foot four. Makes it more likely to be a woman."
"Not a child?" John asked. I shook my head.
"A child's coffin would be more expensive. This is in the lower price range, although still best available in that bracket." I explained.
"This is a practical and informed choice. Balance of probability suggests that this is for an unmarried woman distant from her close relatives. That much is suggested by the economy of choice." Sherlock deducted.Mycroft picked up the lid to the coffin.Whilst Sherlock was still deducting the coffin.
"Acquainted with the process of death but unsentimental about the necessity of disposal. Also, the lining of the coffin"
"Yes, very good, Sherlock, or we could just look at the name on the lid." Mycroft interrupted. We all turned to Mycroft and looked at the lid.
"Only it isn't a name," Mycroft stated.
It read:
