Confrontation

Evie let Jay and Carlos into the dorm in the morning. Mal was awake and she was quietly humming to herself while she was starring at the floor. Evie pushed them into the hallway where she whispered to the boys.

Evie: I haven't spoken to her yet. She's growing darker and more...bad.

Jay: We need to confront her about the bullying. We love her and she's one of us.

Carlos: Let's do it. They walked in. Evie played the insults Audrey, Jordan and Ally said to Mal the day before. Mal heard this and she started to cry. Evie stopped playing the arguments. Mal, why didn't you tell us?

Mal: I didn't want to seem like a coward. And you guys don't even like me so why should I tell you anything?

Evie: Mal, we love you like we would love our sister. You are our sister.

Jay: We are gonna do something about this. Together.

Carlos: As a team. Now, who needs a hug? He opened his arms. Mal turned around, smiled and hugged Carlos.

Jay: Audrey, Jordan and Ally will get revenge on them. He hugged Mal from behind.

Mal: How?

Evie: The talent show!

Carlos: Of course! He ran over to Evie. Mal was still crying so she turned around and hugged Jay.

Evie: If Audrey is performing, we replace her audio with this implant audio and she'll be humiliated.

Carlos: And then, we can go up on that stage and make Mal look like an awesome girl and a lie to the nasty things she was told.

Evie: And Audrey, Jordan and Ally will regret ever messing with her. The two hugged and high-fived each other.

Jay: Ok, I didn't understand any of that but it sounds like a good plan.

Mal: How am I suppose to look like an awesome girl? I'm fat, I'm ugly and I'm worthless. Evie grabbed her hands.

Evie: You are none of those things. We've stuck up with you through thick and thin because we love you and each other. Listen to me when I say. She took a deep breath. You can find me in the space between. Where four worlds come to meet. I'll never be out of reach. 'Cause you're a part of me so you can find me in the space between. You'll never be alone. No matter where you go. We can meet in the space between.

Mal: You've said that to me yesterday.

Evie: Well, you're my best friend.

Carlos: I've got it! Mal can sing Overdose by Jason Derulo! That song is all about power and working it.

Mal: That's an awesome idea!

Jay: And we're gonna make sure it's the best number she's ever done. He placed his fist in front of him. His friends joined him and they smiled at each other.

Mal: Do you guys really think I can do this?

Others: Of course we do!

Mal: That's for believing in me. They did a group hug.

Carlos: Let's get rehearsing.

Mal: I'm nervous but excited. And I have one more request.

Evie: Spill.
