"Haha you'll never be pretty! You're just an ugly loser who can't do anything for herself. Nobody will ever like you, you weirdo. Haha! Amirite boys?"
They all laughed like it was the best thing they ever heard. I sigh and pick my bookbag up out of the locker. I don't understand people sometimes. Do they know I live alone since all my family left and died?
"Lilly! Don't let them drag you down! I think your pretty and they think everyone is losers... So do you want to go to the coffee shop to talk about it?"
I shake my head slowly and look down at my phone.
"If there is anything you ever need just call me you have my number. I gotta get going see ya?"
"See you", I mumbled under my breath.
Katy runs off to catch up with her boyfriend. At least everyone likes her. Nobody likes me. My dad left my mom when I was 4 and remembered how horrible it was. The flashback hits me.
'Why don't you ever help me pay the bills?! And keep food on the table everyday?! Yeah sure, just walk out the door and get drunk with your friends, show up the next day hungover as fuck!', She yells to my dad. My dad started beating her until he left for good. A few days later my mom died in the hospital of brain damage, cracked skull and other bones. I stayed with my aunt until I was 17. She got problems out of nowhere so, I moved out and bought my own apartment to finish off highschool.
A single tear slides down my face then drops on the floor. I get off the floor finally to head home. I don't even feel like going to work. For all I care I'll just call sick.
"Lilly can you come into the office real quick? We need to talk to you" The principal says to me.
I follow her. For several weeks they have been monitoring my health. My counselor was sitting in the chair next to mine to talk.
"So, how was this week? Do we need to suspend those boys?" She says to me.
"This week was sorta long I guess, but nothing too bad happened just my regular. And no, they can stay I'll- just be fine" I had to lie so they don't ask too much.
In the corner of my eye I saw Katy look through the office window. She slightly knocked on the window to get my attention.
I gave her a glare through the window. I silently mouth out the words "I'm busy go away" She rolls her eyes.
"Ok. Imma let you go. I'll see you next Monday", my Counselor says.
"Ok, see you Miss. Cross. Have a wonderful day!" I fakely say but she just gives a smile.
"Why do you like Miss Cross? She is so rude to kids. Like if you have one single hole above the knee then your suspended that day." Katy says.
"I don't. I just have to pretend like her because she is doing so much for me. Hell, she took me for gelato last week. It was goooood. She paid and drove me there" I say.
We walk out the doors to the parking lot.
"Wanna hang out at my apartment for a bit. Maybe do some studying for Monday's quiz?"
"Sure I'll meet you there"
I get in my car to head home. Katy gets in her car and we drive off.
