"Alex?" This must be some kind of joke. The words repeat in my head over and over.
"Why did you ever leave?" My mind was searching for reasons. "I thought you... died"
All eyes were fixed on Alex as he was desperately looking for an answer. He looked lost. The tension between all of us was getting worse by the second.
"It's getting late guys. It's literally two in the morning" Nobody could talk.
Alex got up and took a second to look down at us in a circle. It felt like all eyes were on me now. So insecure. I shriveled into a ball hopeing someone would comfort me.
My mind races. I had sex with my brother?? It wasn't the only thing I thought of. I look up and everyone had crowded around me. I did the only thing I've ever known to do. Run.
Shoving my way through everyone I finally make it out. I came to a realization that I still don't have my phone. I tap a girl on her shoulder hoping she would let me borrow her phone.
"Can I borrow your phone for a second?" She stumbles as she turns around, obviously drunk.
"Yeahhhhh...." she slurrs then taking her phone out of her pocket. She almost drops it.
She takes no hesitation to give me the phone. I try to remember Katy's number but it just doesn't seem to come up. I couldn't tell my Aunt about this whole experience. Even I don't know what happened.
The girl turned back to look at what I'm doing on her phone. She suddenly turns around then yells back at me "I'll be right back!" Giggling. I could already tell what's happening and where she is going with that man.
My mind finally reaches Katy's number. I let out a sigh of relief and dial her number.
"Come on... answer..." I quietly say to myself. She doesn't answer, nor even text me. I try calling a second time.
"Hello?" She says
"Katy! Thank God, it's Lilly"
"Lilly? What is that loud noise in the distance?"
"Oh. Well you see, I don't want to talk about it right now I'll tell you in the car ride home..." I look off into the distance. "I'll send you my location if you please come pick me up"
"Yeah, yeah. I will. Are you ok?"
"Yeah, I'm fine. Just a little sober and tired"
The phone call ends ubruptly. I don't even know where I'm at. I send my location on Google maps waiting for her car. I still couldn't get over the fact of where I am now.
"Hey" a middle aged woman looks at me from above where I hurled into a ball.
"Hi?"
"I seen what happened in there.." She crawls down to the cement where I'm at. "Do you want to talk about what happened?"
I slightly shake my head no. Tears were still streaming down my face. She looks at me with hopeful, glistening eyes. She gently grabbed my arm. I felt.. secure. The soft touch reminded me when my mom used to hold me in her arms; protecting me from the harmful things my dad would throw at my mom and I.
"I just wanna go home!" I burst into tears.
"Do you have a ride home?" She peacefully says. I finally look at her and see her smile. So warm..
"Yeah.. I called my friend.. She said she would come and get me." She starts pulling out a piece of paper.
"Here is my number. If you ever need ANYTHING call me. I'll be glad to help you" she sets the paper under my shoe. Gets up and leaves.
This has been one hell of a night.
