That's Ryan Reese for you.
I shut the folder in front of me after perusing it and looked up, ready to point the clauses that need revision, but stopped short when I found my brother studying me intently.
"what?" I asked annoyingly.
He seemed to come out of whatever trance he was in and cleared his throat before speaking "you seem to be very passionate about this deal"
"yes. I am"
"why?"
"it's called business, if you don't know" I replied with a hint of sarcasm but I know what he is getting at.
"it's uncle ronit's only asset company. This deal will bring him on the road"
"he put the company up for sale. I am merely buying it. why do you speak like you are accusing me of bankrupting him?"
"you can be generous enough to pay more than market value of the company, you know"
"no I don't know. Because in business we do not practice favouritism"
He seemed to continue the argument but I raised my palm indicating the end of argument "I have a conference call to attend from my client in Canada. So I will speak to you later. And here I have marked the clauses and inserted footnotes where I want the changes to take place. I want you to prepare the papers of this deal yourself, Sam."
He sighed deeply "okay."
He quickly exited the room after that leaving me to my thoughts. His suspicions about my interest in this deal are correct. But no one will ever know my intentions behind it. That man, whom my dear brother calls 'uncle ronit' deserves to rot in hell and I will make sure of it. Even thinking about him makes my blood boil.
I take several deep breathes to rein my temper. Just then I hear a knock on my office door and I snap "what????". My secretary manisha pokes her head through the door "sir you are late for the conference call" she speaks hesitantly , not knowing what to expect from me. I feel like a morose for snapping but do not show it to her. It's not her fault that my life is fucked up.
"I will be right on it"
" chat window is ready whenever you are" she says with a timid smile and promptly leaves me alone.
Closing my eyes, I think of the beaches and sunsets and like always it calms me down then I turn to my computer and resume my work.
.....
It's Friday night and here I am at my family home for the Friday night dinner. It has been a ritual ever since I remember. Every Friday, whole family, who are in town, have to be present for the dinner. And tonight, luckily, all the four children of Mr. Anup raichand and Mrs. rumi raichand, my dad and my step mom, respectively, are in town. My dad is oncologist and the owner of the largest cancer research center in South East Asia whereas my step-mother is an opthalmologist.
