"You need to stop being such a drama queen and get your butt to school," Mom said.
"You clearly haven't met my teachers nor the subjects they teach," Libertyy said in a casual tone.
"Well, you clearly don't know what it's like to be an adult,"
"At least in jobs you get a choice. You get to choose from millions of jobs and, from that choice, you can be happy. You can be happy and make money-" her mom started to pack Libertyy's lunch.
"- where as in school on the other hand teaches you meaningless things and subjects. Have I made my point?" Libertyy ranted.
"Oh please, how meaningless are those subjects?" Asked Libertyy's mother.
"Let's see, math I will probably never use, history I will never remember and Science I will memorize for the sake of getting a good grade, then a few short hours later, completely forget about,"
"Sweetie, you go over this rant everyday. Just give it a break," Mom said exhausted.
"I will never 'give it a break', Jennifer."
"I know my name if Jennifer, Libertyy. Just call me mom, will you?"
"Just call me a normal kid who doesn't want to go to school for the rest of her life."
"You overreact way too much sometimes,"
"Yes I do. Then again, so does every other person on the planet. I am surprised you are not used to my ranting."
"I'm surprised you aren't used to going to school," Mom said.
"Of course I'm not, it's the first day back."
"To eighth grade." Mom sighed. Oh no, this was usually when she started those embarrassing school stories about her and her sister. "When you went back to school in third grade-" Great. "-you punched some girl in the face because they took your seat next to Chris. Hey, isn't Chris in your classes this year?"
"Yes, but we remained to stay only friends. Plus, he has a stupid and shallow girlfriend. I am truely surprised he isn't broke by now".
"Someone's jealous..." her mom added silently.
"I heard that, Jennifer."
"I told you once, I told you a million times, just call me Mom, okay?"
"Ok, Mom."
"Ready to go to school?" Her mom asked after a moment of silence.
"More like 'Ready to go to jail and die'? No, no how about 'Ready to stress over tests'? No, here's a good one 'Ready to die because the air conditioning doesn't work and if it does you get hypothermia?" Libertyy added.
"The air conditioning can't be that bad,"
"Oh, you have no idea."
"Libertyy, I'm done with the ranting. Look at the time, you're gonna be late."
So they got in the car and drove off. They drove for a couple minutes before Libertyy saw her "Death Penalty" as she liked to call it.
She saw tons of tan buildings squished together onto one large piece of land. She saw a huge crowd of people gathered around a gate. Libertyy saw a giant pole around fifty feet tall with the American flag. Then... it finally hit her. She saw the huge sign that read "Oakland Middle School".
A huge wave of sadness, terror, and happiness flowed right into her. I just want to bust open this car door and run away. I hate this place. So much. Someone just stab me already.
Yup. She really hates school. Like a lot. The only thing she truely enjoys about school is the fact that she has friends there. They are the reason school isn't totally insufferable and pointless.
Plus, Chris is there. Her "best friend" or that's what she calls him. Secretly, she kind of likes him. They've known each other for 3 years and they are so comfortable with each other. Her entire world would fall apart.
But, she won't admit that. Ever. Not even for one million dollars.
"Libertyy."
She snapped back into reality.
"Oh, thank goodness. I thought you were dead for a second. Your friends are over there." She pointed to a group of kids waving at her and jumping up and down.
"Well, it's not like anyone is gonna judge them. They're eighth graders." Libertyy thought.
She got out of the car and hauled her backpack onto her back.
"Bye, Libster."
"Don't call me that."
"Don't call me Jennifer." Her mom said and drove away.
I want to die.
She started walking to a group of kids and they immediately hugged her.
"We missed you."
"Welcome to hell."
"My child! You are back!"
"I hate hugs. Why are we hugging?"
"Guys. Stop crowding her." Everyone immediately stopped when they heard that. It was Chris.
"I missed you, Libster." He said.
"Don't get all lovey dovey with me now, Christopher Columbus." She laughed it off.
"Girl. I need to tell you something." Jade grabbed her arm and pulled her away from the crowd.
"Geez. What are you? Captain Hook?" Libertyy joked.
"Oh shut it. Rumors have been going around that Chris likes you too." Jade said.
"Rumors. Not fact. Rumors."
"Well when Tessa heard this, she slapped Chris and was extremely pissed at him for a while."
"And that's because she's a shallow shell of a human."
"Or she's just a basic bitch."
"Both."
"Look, he likes you. If he doesn't like you back then he doesn't deserve your love and time. Plus, if he ever breaks my best friend's heart I will personally go to his house and beat him up until he bleeds. With that blood, I will write on his own walls 'I hate you, Tessa." Ruby added with a smirk.
"I love my friends."
"You mean, you love Chris."
"Yeah. I like him too."
"Well, speak of the Devil." Judy says and turns me around.
"We were talking about something." Libertyy said.
"Does it look like I care?" Chris said.
"Maybe you should care more about Libertyy. Hey, isn't there a brand new horror movie coming out tonight? We should all totally see it." Judy winked at Libertyy, while she had a mini panic attack.
"Yeah, we should go see it." Chris said.
The bell rung.Time for hell.
