(Chapter 6) Nightmares
It's been a week since you and Asura got together. He still kept you safe no matter what. He protected you when there was danger. He comforted you when you were upset. Overall, he acted like a sacred guardian should. There was one night however, where he actually had to sleep in your bed with you.
You were sleeping soundly. It was around midnight. It was a quiet and chilly winter night. You were snuggled up into your blanket, cozy and warm. But your peaceful sleep didn't last long.
~Dream world~
You were in a large field. A field that stretched as far as the eye could see. It was nighttime. You heard rustling in the grass around your feet. You looked behind you and saw the creepiest thing you had ever seen. There was a trail behind you. A black thing that appeared to be human like slowly got up. It's neck cracked. It had a completely black face, deprived of eyes, nose, and mouth. It's entire body was black. You stared at it, unable to run away from it. An abnormally large smile worked its way onto this... thing's face. It's slender coal coloured fingers grasped your hand. The ground began to shake, then caved in, bringing you down the hole beneath your feet. You looked and saw the thing again, only it was singing a demented tune that you couldn't understand. You landed in some sort of box. It was large enough that you could fit in it and it was made of wood. A lid fell on top of it, followed by the hammering of nails going into the box. You realized that you were in a coffin, being buried alive. One of your fears was happening. You could hear the thing's twisted laugh echo in your ears, progressively getting louder as the sounds of dirt hitting the coffin increased in speed. You banged your fist on the lid of the coffin.
"LET ME OUT!!! PLEASE!!!! I'M STILL ALIVE!!!!!" you screamed as the laughing was almost deafening. You covered your ears. This thing was scaring you. You screamed for it to stop, but it never did. Instead, it got louder and louder.
"SHUT UP!!! LEAVE ME ALONE!!!!!"
~Asura POV~ (Not in the dream)
I slept soundly. I was all cozy in my bed, thanks to the soft bed sheets. I was awoken by the sound of (Y/N). She was rather loud, and sounded frightened. I could only make out one statement that sent me running to her room.
"Get me outta here! I don't want to die!" I heard her yell as I ran down the hall. I almost kicked the door down. The blanket and pillows were thrown on the floor, and (Y/N) was shaking violently as she yelled things like "stop it", "I'm still alive", and "I can't die now". I jumped on the bed and grabbed her.
"(Y/N) wake up!! You're dreaming!! Wake up!!"
I shook her shoulders as I kept yelling for her to wake up. After a minute, her eyes shot open, tears falling down her (S/C) cheeks, (E/C) eyes filled with utter terror. Her crying intensified as she clung to me, like a scared child who woke up from a bad dream and wanted their mother and father to make the monsters go away. I stroked her soft (H/L) (H/C) hair, trying to calm her down.
~Reader-Chan's POV~ (Reality)
You couldn't have been more scared in your life. Thank god Asura was there to help you out of the demented nightmare. You cried into his shoulder, after all, that was the worst feeling you felt mentally. Asura held onto you, comforting you with kind and gentle words with his smooth voice, stroking your hair.
"Ssshhh. It's okay. It was all a bad dream. It's gone. I'm here. Just calm down, you don't have to worry about it when I'm here to watch over you."
You rested your head on his shoulder. He didn't mind at all. He laid you back down as he put the pillows and blanket back on the bed. You were back to being snuggled under the blankets, head resting on the pillows.
"Would you like me to stay in case the nightmares come back?" Asura asked you. You nodded your head. He got under the blankets and wrapped his arms around your body. He pulled you close to him as the two of you fell asleep again. The nightmares stayed away while Asura stayed with you.
