Three kits lay by their mothers belly, snuggled to her pale gray fur, mewling softly. They wriggled, fighting for warmth and milk.
"Congratulations, Grayleg and Goldenstripe, your kits will grow into fine warriors." A light brown tom cat congratulated the pair, licking his nose as he double checked through his herbs before dipping his head and leaving the den.
"Thank you, Barkwhisker." Grayleg, a gray furred She-cat with a lighter underbelly and toes and darker legs meowed, purring at the kits by her belly.

Her mate, Goldenstripe laid his head on her shoulder as he peered at them, his green eyes softening.
"What shall we name them?" The golden warrior asked, glancing at her.
"I was thinking Dustkit for the golden tom, Pigeonkit for the dark gray tabby she-kit." She meowed, glancing at them lovingly.
"What about the red she-kit?" He asked, causing the queen to tense up, fur bristling at the comment. She turned her head in disgust.
"You name it." She meowed flatly.
"Hmm?" He purred in thought as she merely huffed in response. "Redkit."
"I'm tired, leave me be." She meowed, glaring at him. His eyes widened in question but he dipped his head, abiding her wishes, padding out with a few glances back at his kits.

Not long after he left a large dark ginger tabby tom entered, his white paws thudding against the ground. His golden eyes stared down at her, standing two heads taller than any cat.
"Grayleg." He greeted, not bothering to dip his head or sit.
"Flameheart." She replied dryly, glaring at him. She was the only current Queen in the nursery, the others had their kits apprenticed days before. She scanned him, there was a questioning glance in his eyes as he looked at the kits. "Yes. They're yours." She snarled, pinning her ears back.

His eyes seemed to light up, taking more of an interest. "Ah w-"
"No, shut up!" She snarled, her fur bristling. "Look at them, the clan will find out because of Redkit!" She gestured to the ginger she-kit.
"I'm sure they won't." He meowed in reply.
"We're over, I never loved you." She rushed, blurting her words in a rush. "Goldenstripe is my mate." She growled, her tail lashing. Flameheart stared at her, whiskers twitching.
"Fine." He meowed, turning as he left. "They are mine, I will be watching over them." He meowed, leaving in as calm of a manner as he could.

Grayleg sighed, irritated. She had lied to her clan, her mate. If only she hadn't been so confused. She felt a presence behind her. 'Oh Leafheart, I hope you're watching' she thought, glancing up. She could picture the stars, the pale fur of her fallen friend with stars flooded through her fur. A small breeze hit the back of her neck, fur bristling as she stared back at her kits.

Unseen and unknowing, a brown tabby she-cat with stars littering her pelt was sat next to her, looking at the kits. The cat tilted her head, placing a paw over the Redkit, sighing. The cat shifted from the den, phasing through the entrance and across the camp. The figure stopped at the mouth of a hollowed oak tree, staring inside.
"Nightstar," it spoke. "I know you're there."
After these words two green orbs appeared in the darkness, one more pale than the other, rising slowly. The shape sat, slumped, staring at the cat.
"Why are you here, I've turned my back on you lot." A deep, snarling voice echoed from the darkness.
"I'm a warning. Not for your safety but for the sake of the cat it involves." The tabby meowed to the darkness.
Nightstar seemed to widen his eyes slightly but stayed still, only huffing in response.
"Spit it out." He meowed.
"The cat with red fur with the strength of her father and the wit of her mother will seek a path of vengeance. She will kill, blood with soak the forest to its roots, clans will crumble at her paws and she will not stop until her storm runs red with their blood."

Nightstar snarled.
"You Starclan cats and your nonsense rhymes!" He huffed, flopping back down in his nest, turning away from the cat. "You died long ago, stay that way." He meowed. The female only stared at him, her eyes saddened as she faded away, appearing to break apart into the sky.

This was the beginning of destruction.
