D-0.0.5The afternoon before prom night was hectic. Spring has just started to make a resurgence. The weather was perfect. The sun was out, yet the wind was cool. Just how most people in San Francisco liked it. The city was busy as Savannah looked through the boutique's window. The sunlight tickled her face. She was helping her friend, Avery find a prom dress, which she thought was very irresponsible. She was holding on to Avery's instant film camera, while the other one changed her clothes.
"Seriously Avery, who buys a dress during the night of senior prom?" Savannah complained.
"Apparently, me." Avery laughed. "Deal with it."
Savannah rolled her eyes and sighed. "We have five hours left and you should've done this weeks ago. You stupid reckless bitch." There was a hint of anger in her voice but both knew Savannah didn't mean it.
"Hey hey hey." She said in a joking tone. "Don't worry you'll still get your crown."
"You better get me there on time." Savannah warned, and stood up to help browse more gowns for her best friend to fit, the camera dangled on to her waist as the strap was hanging on her neck. After all, she was the expert when it comes to fashion.
After Avery was done, both girls were ready to go do their hair at Savannah's house. They were currently at the long backbone of San Francisco, Mission Street. They got out of the tiny boutique and they were welcomed by the sight of the bus stop, which was very convenient. They walked to the small waiting area. Avery carried her huge clothes, and made sure the zippered garment bag didn't touch the ground, while Savannah supported the the rest of Avery's stuff in her left hand and her own phone on her right hand.
"Tell me Avery, should we go grab some McDonalds while waiting for the bus? It says thirty minutes." Savannah suggested as she glanced at the sign. "Trust me, it's better than me complaining about how late we're gonna be."
No words were needed and they resumed their journey to the red and yellow fast food store. As they were patiently waiting for the lights to turn green, they conversed quietly about what would happen tonight.
"I swear to god Savannah, if you don't lose your virginity tonight, I'm gonna flip." Avery mocked her loudly.
"Will you shut up? There's a lot of people." Savannah squeezed Avery's face with one hand. Savannah was petite and her skin was the perfect shade of olive, which she got from the mixture of her mom's Afghan side and her dad's Latino side. Her hair cascaded down her back in long, ash brown waves. Avery on the other hand, had foxy eyes and her hair was pure pastel pink. Although she is technically Korean, her accent is purely American.
After they crossed the street, they took a few steps and opened the glass door and was greeted by the smell of fast food. Delicious and deadly.
They ordered ten piece chicken nuggets, and a soda for each. Of course, they didn't forget the large fries. Avery was tasked to hold on to the paper bag as Savannah suddenly had the urge to release her bladder.
Avery was eating off of Savannah's fries, making sure it wouldn't be noticeable. She avoided the chicken nuggets as she never liked eating animal products. She almost dropped the whole bag when a loud horn blew, she immediately looked up into the clear glass window of the store. A speeding Muni bus passed through, and bumped into the bus stop they were on just a few moments ago. Everything paused. Glass, metal and flesh collided with each other.
