Hey dolls! So this chapter is called Confrontations II and this chapter is actually referring back to the beginning of the story so you may have to backtrack your memory to what I believe is Chapters 18-20.

If it helps to go back and read, please go ahead as this chapter and chapters 18-20 coordinate.

Also this chapter picks up from where we left off in the last chapter, just to clarify.

Melanie

I walk farther away from the elevator putting as much distance between Niall and I as possible.

As I speed walk to the continental breakfast line, I come into contact with something hard.

I stumble back and crinkle my nose.

Damn, that hurt.

"Hey! Watch where you're-oh Calum?" I say.

I look at the smiling boy. His black hair laid softly upon his forehead. His eyes smiling along with him. He was in this typical tank and jeans, the bottoms folded up. And oddly, no socks.

"Hey Melanie, sorry about that." The Aussie boy said, rubbing the back of his neck nervously.

I smile. "No worries."

I had met the 5SOS boys when the tour began and now they were like my four other best friends.

I give Calum a tight hug and pull away, leaving him blushing crimson.

"So, not to bring this up or anything, but we heard about, you know.." He said, stuttering to get the words out.

"Oh." I say, looking down.

"I know that you probably don't want any pity but I'm sorry about that, we all are. We are so pissed at Niall, I can't even begin to explain." Calum said, grabbing a plate from the table and handing it down to me.

"Oh Calum, thank you guys for being so sympathetic but Niall is your friend and he will always be. Don't choose sides between him and I, no matter how wrong or right the situation is. He needs you guys right now so be there for him please. I can take care of myself." I say, putting a few pieces of toast on my plate.

He nods. "You're a powerhouse, Melanie Campbell."

"Thank you, Calum Hood." I laugh, calling him by his surname.

Calum ends up going to his room to eat and I stay downstairs, eating in the little outdoor area they had by the breakfast area.

As I finish up, Harry appears, almost out of nowhere.

"Good morning, Melly." He says, pecking me friendly on the cheek.

"Morning Haz." I say, as he taking the seat across from me.

"So today's the day, huh?" Harry asks, looking down as he twiddled his thumbs.

"Yup." I say, popping the 'p'.

Harry looks up and smiles. "Well don't you worry, I have something planned for you today."

I smile. "Really? What's that?"

"Don't worry, you'll see." He says, smirking. "Come on, it's time for us to go find out what it is."

I stand up and stretch briefly then I dispose of my plate. I walk back to the table and find Harry with his keys in his hand ready to go.

"Alright, let's go." I say.

In the car, Harry and I conversed on the dumbest of topics, making conversation come easy to us.

"So are you really telling me that you butter your bread and toast it before you make the grilled cheese?" Harry asked, making a sour face.

"Yeah! It gives it a really nice buttery taste." I say.

"You are gross." Harry says, crinkling his nose.

I roll my eyes. "Thanks."

Harry makes a sharp turn and pulls up by a rather large house, the beach everywhere we look.

"Where are we?" I ask looking around at the beautiful scenery around me.

"Malibu." Harry says, getting out of the car.

I get out and meet Harry on the sidewalk.

"What are we doing here?" I ask, pulling out my phone to snap a few pictures of the view.

"Visiting a friend." He said, walking up the path to the large house.

I stand on the sidewalk, confused.

"Well aren't you going to follow?" He called over he shoulders.

I catch myself and run up to the pathway and fall into step with Harry.

As we approach the door, Harry begins smiling bigger.

"What are you smiling about all by yourself?" I tease.

"Nothing. Just you."

I smile. And walk forward waiting at the doorstep of Harry's friend's house.

Harry meets me there and rings the door bell and rubs his hands together anxiously.

"Are you ready?" He asks, smiling.

I furrow my eyebrows in confusion. "What do you-"

The front door opens and my face pales instantly.

"Dad?"
