Why.
It was no longer a question, just a word that floated about in my head.
Why.
Why.
Why.
"Fuck." I mutter under my breath, running my hand through my already messy hair.
I see his face, the anger that sweeps across as his hand makes contact with my face.
I'm on the floor.
I wipe my eyes mindlessly.
Oh, I'm crying.
"Hey, hey. Mel, love. Wake up." A voice says, waking me.
I gasp, jolting up.
"Hey it's okay, it's me, Harry."
I look up slowly and take a breath of relief.
It's Harry, alright. Hair disheveled from sleep and eyes dark from exhaustion.
It had been about two days since...the thing. I had been bunking out in Harry's room on the bed and him on the pull out sofa because he refused to trade places.
"What happened?" I ask even though I already know.
"You had another one, love. You were crying." Harry said, rubbing small circles into my back. "Your eyes are swollen."
I sighed. "I'm sorry Har. I've been doing this too much. I can't keep doing this to you. I think I'm just going to book myself a room and end the week here. Then I'll go back to the UK." I say, getting up from the bed.
"No, Mel. It's okay. I'm not tired." Harry denied.
Just then, he let you a loud yawn and I raise my eyebrows.
"Okay maybe just a bit." He admitted.
"I'm just going to grab my stuff and go to the lobby to book a new room." I say, shrugging on my robe over my pyjamas. I shove my feet into my slippers.
Harry watches me as I grab my suitcase and make my way to the door.
As I approach, Harry sprints and within seconds, he's blocking the door.
"Harry, what are you doing?" I ask, stifling a yawn.
"Blocking the door, what does it look like?" Harry says, rolling his eyes.
"I can see that," I say, rolling my eyes, "I meant why?"
"Mel, seriously just stay, it's fine. Besides you can't leave without fixing this thing with Niall. I won't allow it." He said, shaking his head.
I sigh.
"Seriously, I can't stay. I want to but I can't. Being here is too much of a roller coaster. I need to clear my head and go home." I say.
Being here was too much to handle right now.
Harry makes a face and holds up his hand.
"How about this," he says, "how about you just stay tonight and then tomorrow night I can have you on a flight to England?"
"Really?" I say.
"Yeah, all expenses paid." He said proudly.
I scoff. "Harry, I think I can pay for my own flight."
"Bull. I'm paying for it." He says.
"No. Please just let me pay for my own flight. It's my final and ONLY offer." I say.
Harry goes to hesitate and I make a beeping noise.
"Okay. Fine." Harry says, crossing his arms.
"Good. Now let's go back to sleep." I say. "It's four in the morning."
"Sounds good to me." Harry says, running over to the sofa.
"Harry, take the bed." I say while putting my suitcases back in the corner.
"No. That's my final and ONLY answer." He says, getting under the covers.
"But-"
"BEEP!"
"I just-"
"BEEP!"
"Har-"
"BEEP!"
"Okay! Fine. I'll stay on the bed." I say, pulling back the covers and getting under.
I take off the lamp by the night stand and rest my head on the pillow.
I let out another stream of tears quietly.
I take a deep breath.
"Please Melanie, stop crying. It'll be okay." Harry's voice said through the darkness.
I smile through my tears. "Harry?"
"Yeah love?"
"Thank you for being such a good friend."
There was a moment of silence.
"Get some sleep love, I have something planned for you tomorrow."
"Okay." I reply, closing my eyes.
I slowly start to fall into slumber.
I feel lips kiss the top of my head.
"Goodnight Mel." Harry said, stroking my hair before his voice fades away.
"Goodnight Harry."
