Sheryl stayed over at your place. You both binge watched a drama that Sheryl was interested in, and finished up the rest of the snacks Sheryl brought over the last time. You went to bed slightly earlier this time, because you still had work the next day. You washed your face, said goodnight to Sheryl and went to bed.
You woke up, got dressed, and left the house. As usual, you took public transportation, and listened to music, and scrolled through your news feed on Twitter and Instagram. Several articles caught your eyes - they were all about "BTS' V and Rumoured Girlfriend Spotted on Date"
You clicked on the link by Soompi.
"BTS' V Spotted With Rumoured Girlfriend"
Did they, perhaps, catch you and Taehyung together? Below the headlines, a photograph was attached. It was a picture of Taehyung - although he had a bucket hat on, his mask was pulled down his face, so he was recognisable - with a girl, sitting opposite him in the fried chicken shop at the mall near your house.
You zoomed in on the picture - you weren't there. Instead, the girl sitting opposite him was Tanya.
You felt your chest tighten. Did he move on already? Why hadn't he said anything? Immediate thoughts rushed to your head, and the sensation of tears welling up in your eyes returned. You blinked them away quickly. You frowned at the photograph - Tanya's hand was on Taehyung's - you couldn't see his expression well because of the shadow cast by the bucket hat.
"BTS' V was spotted yesterday with his rumoured girlfriend. Some fans say this is not the first time, ever since a fan claimed to have seen him kissing her at a bingsu cafe."
You closed the link and kept your phone in your bag, deciding to just listen to music. You felt so hurt and betrayed.

You were grateful that Tanya wasn't at work when you arrived. You busied yourself by sorting out the new pieces of clothing that had arrived earlier. Jiheon frowned when she saw you.
"Are you alright? You look incredibly tired and - were you crying? Tell me who did this to you, I'll break their faces!" Jiheon said, kneeling down beside you.
You couldn't help but smile. "It's alright. I'm okay."
"You sure? You can go home if you need."
"I want to ask you something," you said, getting an idea. "Can you change my shift? I don't mind working in the late afternoon hours."
"Sure, I can arrange that."
"Thank you so much, Jiheon."
Giving you a smile, Jiheon got up and returned to sorting out some paperwork, while you got back to shelving the clothes, according to colour.
"Morning, Jiheon," chirped a voice, a rather annoying voice you never wanted to hear again. Tanya. "And to you too."
You ignored her. Frowning, Tanya went up to you, grabbed your shoulder and pulled you around to face her. "Um, I said, good morning?"
You wrenched yourself out of her grip. Without responding, you got back to your job.
"I see," you could hear the smugness in her voice, "You've seen the article, haven't you?"
You blinked back tears again, chiding yourself internally for being so affected.
"Well," she continued. "we're very happy together. I'm just here for one thing, you know? Your blessing."
The nerve of that b-
"Leave her alone, you nasty little brat!" Jiheon spat, making Tanya jump in surprise. Scowling, Tanya turned back to you, and said, "Well, do get back to me, honey."
You glared at the fabric in your hand. If she was so free, she should go improve her makeup skills instead of dissing me, because her eyebrows looked like she had coloured them in with a sharpie.
You busied yourself to the point where you forgot about Tanya and Taehyung and this whole mess for a little bit. Your shift ended quicker than you expected, so you simply greeted Jiheon and left the shop. You walked around the mall, trying to calm yourself down, and bought some pastries and cakes for you and Sheryl to share when you got home.
As usual, you took public transport back home. Everything was back to normal. No more Taehyung involved in your life, just like it had been a few months ago.
You walked to your apartment complex from the train station, allowing yourself to calm your thoughts and face reality - Taehyung had moved on. You thought about the books you'd read and the movies you'd watch when you got home.
Your phone ping-ed.
mom💕💓: are you okay? we saw the article. that girl... it wasn't you.
You sighed. Again with the stupid article. You told yourself not to cry. Your tears weren't going to waste anymore.
you: yes mom. we weren't exactly a thing, to begin with. at least, that's probably what taehyung thought.
mom💕💓: cheer up, okay? i don't want to see my daughter so upset. love you, honey. call us if you need anything, alright?
you: yes, mom. love you and dad lots.
mom💕💓: dad says he has a black belt in karate if you need him. have a good rest okay?
you: yes, mom. bye 😘
You shut off your phone and dug around in your bag for your house keys. Keys in your hand, you walked up to your apartment from the lift.
But someone was already there.
