"Close your precious eyes
And just realize
I'm still fighting"
—Without You, Aj Rafael

"Please let Justine be my partner . . ."

"Porter and Claude," their Biology teacher announced.

"Damn it!" Sam hissed under her breathe as Justine glanced her an apologetic look.

"And last but not the least, Reeves and Greg."

"Hayden again?!" Sam scowled at Justine's partner as he stuck his tongue at her.

It was finally Friday, the day where students were always eager to get out this prison house to enjoy the weekend. Unfortunately, their weekend getaway will be disrupted due to the occurrence that their Biology teacher, Mr. Ross, has given a task to them.

Once he had announced all the partners, he cleaned his desk and announced his dismissal. With a wave, he grabbed his stuff and after he went out, groans of protests followed.

"No! Out of all people, why did it have to be Kyle?" she whispered in agony. "We all know he's a slacker, which meant I'll be doing all the fucking work! I hate to be responsible."

"Look who's talking. As if you're not a lazy bum," Justine raised a brow at her.

"I know I am, but I am a slacker who also wants high grades," she sighed frustratingly as she plopped her head on her desk. "Which means I'll be forcing myself to work." she groaned in horror.

"So, you're implying that you want us to be partners so that you'll slack off while I do all the work?"

Sam slightly raised her head, her chin providing her support. "Babe, you know that I do my part. I just need your instructions. Besides, my mood of doing these fucking tasks depends who I work with." she raised a brow at her. "If I work with a lazyass, plus I am a lazyass myself, the result is double negative!"

"Double negative results in positive in Math, y'know? Integers?"

Sam sneezed loudly, catching some of the attention in class. "Ah, bullshit. I'm allergic to Math."

Justine shook her head in amusement. "Well, we can't do anything about the partnering. Mr. Ross did specifically say that it's a boy-girl duo."

"That's the problem," she said in exasperation. "I mean, look at you. You look like a man yourself. Well, I can't be the guy here since look at me, I'm a sexy as hell, motherfucking goddess—"

"I take back what I said of treating you to churros."

"—but we can't fight the truth that despite the world may perceive you as a man, but in my vision you'll always be the gorgeous, talented, and creative Justine," she said with a tight smile.

"Nice try," Justine stuck her tongue at her.

"Damn it," her bestfriend snickered in reply. "And you!" she pointed a finger and narrowed her eyes  to Hayden who was situated next to Justine and was enjoying their childish exchange, "You have Justine in most subjects, always taking stuff from her like you own her bag, always stick to her side like glue, and sit next to her in every damn occasion," she counted as she stuck a finger at every mention, "and yet, the only subject I have with her, you also took her away!" she crossed her arms around her.
