(lol soz for taking months to update, a lot of shit has been happening in my life recently and i haven't really felt in the mood to do anything, especially write.)
"you're what now?" maya asked, dumbfounded at the news she had just been told.
"farkle and i are dating," riley repeated slowly, taking cautious measures to not show any emotion or fear.
it wasn't the blonde she was scared of, no, it was the fact that she had no clue if maya still had feelings for him, if she still loved him as much as she used to.
she watched as maya stood there, letting the words sink in and really processing how she felt about it.
there were no words to describe the feeling that arrived in maya's stomach the second she heard the words come out of riley's mouth. she was, of course, happy for her best friend for finding love, but there was also the feeling of jealousy swirled in with it.
she loved farkle, she knew she would never stop, but boy if this wasn't a wake up call.
her jealousy then diminished, replacing itself with anger. anger that she hadn't realized her best friend's feelings because of how wrapped up she was in her relationship, anger that she spent so much time resenting farkle when really she should have been letting it go, anger that she hadn't realized that he was already moving on.
moving on, huh?
two can play at that game.
"i'm so happy for you riles," the blonde smiled, and the breath of relief that was let out from both riley and brad did not go unnoticed.
"are you sure you're not mad? it's okay to be upset maya, i know how much you guys loved each other, and i promise i would break up with him in a heartbeat if you ever felt uncomfortable with it," the brunette rambled, but maya simply shook her head.
"that won't be necessary riles."
"thank you so much, m."
"there's nothing to thank me for. now what are you waiting for? go get your man," maya smiled, and riley sent her one last questioning glance, making sure she was okay with everything, before grinning and giving her best friend a quick squeeze, running out the door to find farkle and tell him the good news.
there was a moment of silence after the door shut behind riley, and brad stepped closer to the blue eyed beauty, resting a hand on her cheek and looking into her eyes to search for any sort of emotion behind her happiness.
but that was the thing, there wasn't any.
she was genuinely happy for her best friend that she had found someone who made her happy, and she was happy that it had made her realize that she had the same exact thing standing right in front of her the whole time.
"are you okay, love?" he asked, his eyes softening at her silence, waiting for an answer.
this right here was a make or break moment for brad, this would show him if maya still had feelings for farkle, or if she had moved on and was ready for the next step of her life.
this was the moment he had been anticipating, dreading, but also excitedly awaiting since the moment that he met the blonde.
she grinned at him, stepping closer and placing her hands on his chest, lifting herself ever so slightly on her tippy toes so their faces were extremely close, and she could feel brad's heart rate pick up dramatically at this small movement. she bit her lip, looking down at his lips while carefully choosing her next words, knowing how important it was that she assured him that there was no doubt in her mind that they were meant to be together.
"i'm absolutely perfect," maya whispered, and before he had a chance to question it again, she wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling him down and letting their lips collide into a kiss like no other.
(ahhhhhhh happy halloween to y'all! my friend shannon and i went to a halloween party this weekend and it was probably the most fun thing i've done in a long time.
