“Brie, come here, I have something to tell you”
You heard Luke shout from downstairs. Luke and I have been best friends for as long as I can remember and we had recently moved into a new apartment with his band mates, Ashton, Calum and Michael. We all got along quite well, but they had all been acting weird with me for days. Was it something I did? I shrugged it off and made my way downstairs, sitting next to Luke.
“Yeah, what is it?”
He wasn’t able to look at me so I knew it must be something bad. I was nervous. I had never seen him act this way with me before in my entire life. All I wanted to know was what he was about to say, but at the same time, I was scared.
“Um, we’ve been asked to, uh, open up for One Direction on their tour, but we’ll be gone for a little over 6 months, we, um, we decided to take the offer because it’s good for our band to get a better fanbase..”
He looked up at me, I was unable to speak. There was nothing to say. My best friend was going to be gone for 6 whole months and there was nothing I could do about it. Nothing I had to say would have mattered, they would have gone on that tour no matter what. I nod, before standing up and heading into the kitchen. Ashton stood up and followed me.
“It wasn’t easy for him to tell you that, he didn’t want to hurt you, he knows you’re dealing with a lot recently with your mom passing away, but you have to understand that at this point, we’ve got to make a name for ourselves.”
He focused on my face, trying to figure out what I was going to say, but I didn’t say a thing. I wasn’t able to speak. All I felt was this sharp pain in my chest and I wanted it to go away. He pulled me into him and hugged me tightly. I wrapped my arms around him tightly, bursting into tears. Ashton knew how I felt about Luke. I was completely in love with him. He had promised me he wouldn’t tell Luke, and I trusted him with my life to know that he wouldn’t lie to me.
After a while, he let go and wiped away my tears. “It’s getting late, you should get some sleep sweetheart.” I nodded before heading upstairs and crawling into my bed, hugging the sheets close to my face. I lay there, thinking to myself before eventually falling asleep.
*The next morning*
I was woken up to the sound of Michael screaming at Luke.
“You made me lose my game, you asshole!”
I giggled to myself before climbing out of bed and grabbing one of Luke’s shirts. He was much taller than me, which made his shirt baggy and really comfortable to sit in. I made my way downstairs, knowing that tomorrow, these four losers would be gone and our apartment would be fairly quiet. I hated that.
“Good morning Brie”
Luke smiled at me, oh god I love that damn smile so much. It sent butterflies throughout my whole body. I smiled back at him, sitting on his lap and watching Michael play his game. I notice Luke looking at me, so I turn to face him.
“Why are you staring at me?” I giggled, causing him to smile. He shook his head before smirking at me and yawning. I knew I’d miss him so much, but I had been telling them they needed to go on a tour, and now was their big chance. One Direction are huge which will mean they’d get a much bigger fanbase. I wasn’t sure if I was prepared to see them get huge, but I know they deserve it.
“Who wants pancakes?”
Michael completely stopped playing his game and turned to look at me. He has a huge smile on his face and I smile back at him. I know instantly what that look means. Michael’s favourite food at the minute was pancakes. I stand up, walking into the kitchen and start making pancakes.
I couldn’t help but wonder if Luke would miss me while they’re on tour. Probably not. They were going to get so big and I’d probably never see them much again. Oh god, let’s not think about this.
I walk back into the living room where the boys were, handing them all a plate of pancakes each then going back into the kitchen to get knives, forks and syrup. We all ate our pancakes and nobody spoke a word. After everyone was finished, Michael and Luke headed upstairs to make sure everything was packed. Their flight was in a matter of a few hours and I was so scared for them. What if nobody liked them? They’d get so heartbroken. No. Of course people are going to like them, after all, they were freaking amazing. I sit in on their band practice every single time and their music is incredible.
A few hours passed by and it was time for them to leave. Luke was first to hug me, he grabbed hold of me and hugged me so tight. “I’m going to miss you so damn much” he whispered in my ear, causing me to get tears in my eyes. “I’m going to miss you too” I whispered back. He held me in his arms for at least 5 minutes before letting the other guys have their chance. Michael was second. His hugs were undoubtably the best hugs I’ve ever had. He squeezed me tight and told me he’d make sure I got facetime calls every single day from them. “Pinky promise?” I asked, looking at him. He held out his pinky and I linked it with mine, smiling. Calum hugged me from behind and I giggled. “Nice move Cal, you scared me though, I wasn’t expecting that.” He laughed before letting go. “Gonna miss you, Brie.” He pouted and I stuck my tongue out at him. “Gonna miss you too” I pouted too before turning to Ashton.
“Come here, you beautiful human being”
He looked at me, grabbing my hand and pulling me towards him before wrapping his arms around me. “You’re gonna be okay alright? We’ll make sure of that, we’ll always talk to you when we’re offstage but don’t worry about us okay, we’re gonna be alright on the road.” Ashton was always so nice to me, and that’s what I liked about him. He was so caring. After a while, the boys all grabbed their suitcases, heading for the door. Luke looked at me before blowing a kiss and heading outside. They all said one last goodbye before heading to the airport. That was it. I wasn’t going to see them for at least 6 months, maybe longer. Oh how I was going to miss those four idiots..
