EIGHT

Taehyung's POV

Where should I start? I thought, pacing back and forth.

"Hyung, you've been pacing around for almost 10 minutes. What the heck are you thinking?"

"I don't know where to start!" I said as I squatted down on the ground while grabbing my hair in frustration.

"Erm. You can try asking that granny over there." Moonbin said as he pointed to an old lady that's selling newspapers.

Right... An Old house, Old map and a key that might have gone through a fire! It must have appeared on the news somehow.

"Thanks Moonbin, you're pretty smart!" I nodded my head and smiled as I was impressed.

I ran towards that old lady and she looked at me, puzzled.

"Hello young man... looking for some newspapers...?" She said weakly.

"Actually, no. I'm here to ask whether you know where this house is." I showed her the photograph but she squinted her eyes.

"You sure you want to go there?" She asked.

"Yes."

"Let me warn you... a family of 3 has died in that house due to a fire... so be careful of ghosts... It's located down that corner. Just walk straight and turn right." She then smiled as I felt a shiver down my spine.

"Okay, thank you." I thanked her and quickly ran back to Moonbin.

"Yah Kim Moonbin, let's go."

Soon enough, we arrived at the old house but there was something weird about the atmosphere. It felt familiar... it was like 2015 all over again.

"The night was strangely cold and dark because it's in the middle of summer."  The only thing that's different, is that it's morning now.

I knocked on the door but no one opened it. So I took the key and slipped it into the keyhole as I slowly turned the knob.

When I pushed the wooden door, a little creak could be heard. Reminding me how old and worn down this house was.

"Shin Jae!" I shouted as Moonbin followed suit.

"I know you're here. Come out!"

Moments later, I heard footsteps coming from above and a voice which I suppose belongs to Shin Jae said,

"Kim Taehyung. I want you to come up alone. Ask the person who came with you to get out." He said.

I had no other choice but to ask Moonbin to wait for me outside.

"Bin-ah, I need you to get help from our team without letting the chief know a single thing. If I don't come out in an hour, come in and save Joohyun. Understand?" I softly said to Moonbin.

"Yes sir." He said and went out of the door.

I then made my way up the wooden stairs that had a high chance of breaking with every single step that I took.

Without realising that someone was behind me the entire time, an object swung to my head and in an instance, the world started to spin. I felt my body roll down the stairs and everything went black.

Joohyun's POV

I witnessed the gruelling scene of the engraver swinging a bat onto Taehyung's head as he lost his balance and rolled down the stairs. What hurts me the most is that I couldn't do anything about it.

My right hand was handcuffed onto the handle of the stairs and I could see Taehyung's body lying motionlessly at the foot of it.

"YAH CALL THE AMBULANCE WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" I screamed at the engraver.

"Don't be stupid, he won't die." He said with a smirk as he lifted Taehyung up and rested his body next to mine.

Taehyung's left arm was handcuffed on the the handle of the stairs as well so he was facing me. All I could see on his face were bruises and blood...

"Taehyung-ah..." I was on the verge of crying as I could feel warm tears forming.

"Taehyung-ah ireona! (Taehyung, Wake up!)" I lightly kicked him but he didn't gave any response.

Is he gone...? I gulped.

"YAH KIM TAEHYUNG IREONA!" I couldn't stop crying as I saw his forehead dripping with blood.

Right then, I could feel a series of vibrations coming from Taehyung's pocket. I took it out and before I could pick up, the engraver snatched it out of my hand and threw it to the ground floor; Taehyung's phone shattering into bits and pieces.

"Don't try to play games with me because you know, you'll di-" The engraver was interrupted when he heard the main door of the house open with a loud bang.
