‘Why in the hell is he staring at me? Did I grow another head that I don’t know about? Stupid jerk! He is such an asshole and now I have to work with him, closely work with him. I have to live in the same house for at least a month and pretend to be his wife. I still don’t know who is going to buy that because I don’t look like wife material in any way shape or form.’ She thought as she glared at Joe who was studying her with his eyes for some reason.
As she was looking at him her phone began to ring startling her slightly. She diverted her eyes back to her desk, took her phone out of her pocket and answered.
“This is Mason.”
“Hello Renee this is Agent Monica Walker.”
“What can I do for you?” She asked a little caught off guard by the call.
“Well, I have been asked by Deputy Director Shaw to take you shopping. He said you will need a new wardrobe for this assignment.” Monica answered cheerfully.
‘This woman has got to be kidding. There is no way I am going shopping with her or anyone else. My clothes are just fine. I don’t need nor do I want to change. I hate this.’
“Shopping, me?” She said aloud.
“Yes, shopping. I am on my way into the office and should be there in about ten minutes. Will you be ready to go then?”
“Sure, since I don’t have a choice.”
“Good. See you soon.” Monica said before disconnecting.
When she looked up from her desk she saw Joe was still watching her. She narrowed her eyes at him showing how much she was angry about this whole ordeal.
The ten minutes she had to wait for Monica went faster than she thought they would. As soon as Monica got there Renee was whisked off to downtown Manhattan for some shopping.
The first store they went into was Bloomingdale’s, a store Renee has never been to in her entire life even living in New York. She was more of a discount shopper and that store was no one’s Filene’s Basement. Monica led her to the women’s department where she saw the most ridiculous looking outfits she’s ever seen, and they all cost too damn much.
“You’re a size six, right?” Monica asked with a huge smile plastered on her face.
“I guess. I really don’t know because I generally just pick up clothes I think will fit as long as they are the right price. I don’t like to spend a lot of money, and the clothes in this store are way too expensive.” She answered waving her hands around at the displays.
“Well, I will take that as a yes.” Monica replied chuckling.
Renee watched as Monica picked up dress after dress, blouse after blouse, and skirt after skirt. She even picked up a few pairs of shorts, which Renee thought were a bit too short. It was a little overwhelming. The colors alone would be enough to give a person a major headache. They were way too bright and cheerful for Renee’s taste.
After Monica picked up about twenty-five articles of clothing, she led Renee to the fitting rooms and shoved her in. As Renee looked at the clothes she sort of growled.
“I have to try on all this stuff?”
“Yep, every last thing. Then once we get your clothes squared away we will need to do some shoe shopping. Don’t worry, we don’t have to get everything in one place. There are many stores we can go to in order to get what you need.” Monica replied as she put the clothes on the hook in the fitting room.
