TROYE’S PERSPECTIVE
The next few hours sort of flew by in a blur. A lot of doctors and nurses came and went from the room. They drew blood, took out a lot of tubes and needles, and asked me a million questions. Until finally at about 6:30, after my family returned from dinner in the cafeteria the doctor came in and said, “We want to keep you here tonight for observation, but as long as everything goes fine, you’ll be able to go home in the morning.”
Immediately, my parents started planning for my discharge. Figuring out what they needed to bring to the hospital in the morning and what they needed to do at home before I got there. I didn’t understand why they were so concerned, so instead of listening to their chatter, I turned to Tyler who was still sitting on the edge of my bed, holding my hand.
“Guess that means you’re going back to L.A. then?”
“Didn’t you hear me the first night I was here?”
“What?”
“I told you,” he said at a normal volume before leaning down to whisper the rest in my ear. “I’m here as long as you want me and I’m not going anywhere until you can come with me.”
“I want you here forever,” I mumbled. He smiled at me, and kissed me lightly.
“Then, I’ll be here forever,” he said matter-of-factly. I smiled.
