When school ended. I waited for Jace by his car. After about 10 minutes later he finally showed up.
"10 years later." I muttered.
"I'm sorry, coach had to talk to our team about this game we've got soon. I would have texted you but I forgot." He says as he fishes for his keys in his pocket.
"Oh so what? I'm forgettable now?" I joke crossing my arms.
"What! No, no, no! I didn't mean that I-" He rambles on but I stop him.
"I was joking. Jesus Christ are you okay?" I look at him strangely.
He sighs in relief. "I just don't want us to fall out again." He says, scratching the back of his neck.
I put my hand on his arm. "I couldn't agree anymore."
We stare at each other for what feels like hours. Jace slides his hands down my arms and grabs my hands. His thumbs rubbing against my hands soothingly.
My breath hitched at our closeness. I need to stop this. This isn't right.
I try and pull my hands away but he only holds them tighter.
"I'm so sorry for how I've been acting lately, I've been a complete dickhead and was driven by..." he hesitates to finish the sentence. "Jealousy."
I furrow my eyebrows. Jealousy? Why was he jealous, there was nothing to be jealous of.
Understanding my confusion, he sighs.
"I hated seeing you and Grayson together, watching him make you happy. Something I couldn't do myself." I hold his hand, looking at him in disbelief.
"What do you mean, you couldn't make me happy? You make me so happy everytime I'm around you, obviously not recently but other than that you made me feel welcomed. You make me laugh, smile and your fun to hang around with." I smile.
"Anything else that you want me to say to boost your ego?"
"That I'm sexy, undeniably gorgeous?" He smirks.
"That you're a sex God?" I say playing along.
"Is that what you think about me?" He grins. I try to keep a neutral face but I can't help but grin back.
"Hmm maybe." I say, winking while walking past him to the passenger side, he raises an eyebrow.
"Hazel Brook, you naughty girl!" I laugh as we both get in the car.

We pull outside of the familiar café where I first met Jace's friends.
"Oh just so you know, I don't have any money on me."
"You wouldn't need it anyway because I'm paying." He states.
Before I could refuse, he stops me.
"I said I would make it up to you anyway, take this as part of it."
I shurg.
"Won't argue over free food." He chuckles.
"Let's go."
We get out of the car and walk towards the café. When we enter, I'm hit with the familiar sweet smell of cakes.
"Hey why don't you go and find us a seat while I order for the both of us?" Jace says.
I say okay, looking around the Café to find a perfect seat by the window. I sit down looking out of the window admiring the view of the sky, the weather is surprisingly nice today as England mostly rained. After a couple of minutes looking outside Jace came and sat down handing me my hot chocolate while putting his on the table.
"The drinks in here never fail to impress me, there all so good especially the hot chocolate." Jace says and sips his hot chocolate while moaning in delight.
He needs to stop making those noises.
"Really? Well I'll be the judge of that." I say and take a sip of my drink. The sweet taste fills my mouth. Oh my god! This is the best hot chocolate I've ever tasted in my life.
"Hmm, oh my god! What the hell do they put in this drink? This is legit the best hot chocolate I've ever tasted in my life."
"I know right! It's like the best."
We stay for a couple of hours getting to know each other some more, laughing at embarrassing stuff we've done in the past. I feel so relaxed. This is the happiest I've ever been in a while.
