Pickles Aren't My Favorite!

'knock  knock!' The sound came from my door.
"Coming!" I said as I went running to door to see who it is.
"Hi Mieko-chan!" It was my best friend, Akihiko.
"Hiko-kun! what are you doing here?"
I asked.

"I was planning that we should go out today. It's a lovely day!" He said enthusiastically.
"That seems like a great idea to me! Did you ask your mom already?" I asked as he immediately replied with a yes.

"You're really excited today aren't cha?"
"Yeah! Super excited!"
"Okay, okay, I'll ask my mom now. Be right back!" I said as I left to go to my mom's room.

"Mommm! Can I go outside with Hiko-kun?" I asked.
"Sure, have fun!" She replied with a smile.
"Yay! Thank you!!!" I yelled with excitement.

I ran as quickly as I can to the door.

"Hiko-kun! Mom said yes!!" I said with lots of happiness.
"That's great! Let's go!" He said as he placed his hand together with mine.
We ran to the park together and stopped there for awhile.

"So.. Hiko-kun.. where should we go today?" I asked in wonder.
"How about we go here.." He said as he showed me two tickets for the carnival that's open today.

"What!?! No way! Where'd you get tickets?" I questioned.
"My mother bought them for us!" He answered.

"That's amazing! But.. aren't we a bit too young to go on our own?" I asked again thinking twice.
"I mean.. sure we are just kids but I'll make sure nothing happens to you." He assured me.
'Aww that's so sweet' I thought to myself.

"Aww, thank you Hiko-kun!" I said as we started the adventure.

I looked around in awe as the place was so wonderful.
"I can't believe we're here! it's fantastic!" I said happily.

"Me too! Let's go on some rides, shall we?"
"Yes we shall, indeed."
We said to eachother and giggled.

We went to a bunch of rides. I felt a bit dizzy but it was fun to be with him.
I think we probably went on 10 rides..
probably..  or even more..

It was 12:38 in the afternoon, we were starting to get hungry.
"Hiko-kun.. can we eat lunch?" I asked.
"Yeah, I'm getting hungry too." He replied.
"Over there! There's a small restaurant around there!" He pointed.
"Okay! Let's check it out." I said going along with him.

When we went inside, it smelled so good. I almost wanted to eat everything.
"Wow.. its smells sooo good!" I remarked.
"I can agree. What do you want to order?" He asked.
"I'll have a hamburger! I think it's their specialty because everyone here seems to be eating it." I said.

"Okay, I'll order that for me too." He said as he ordered our food.

"Mmmh! It smells so good. I can't wait to eat it!" I exclaimed.
"Be careful! It's still hot." He said before he handed it to me.
"Thanks Hiko-kun!" I said as I took it.

"Yummy!" I said as I took a bite.
"Yeah, it's delicious!" He said as he took a bite on his burger.
It really was delicious until I ate the middle part.

"What is that??!! A pickle?!!" I said in surprise.
"What's wrong with the pickle?" He questioned.
"Pickles aren't my favorite!" I replied with a bit of disgust.
"Really? What's your favorite then?" He asked me.

"My favorite huh? hmmm.. let's see.." I said while I was thinking.
"You're my favorite!" I smiled.
"What? Oh.. uh.. thank you.." He blushed.

"Why are you blushing, Hiko-kun?" I asked while laughing.
He is really cute while blushing.
"I--I'm not blushing! What are you saying Mieko-chan?!" He said while  trying to hide his blush.

'Does he like me?' The question popped in my head.
Well.. if I want to find out.. I guess there's one way..

'Muah!' I said while I kissed his cheek.

"Wha--AHHHH!" I heard him scream silently.
He started to blush really hard. Almost red too.
"You're blushing again!" I pointed out.
"Ok! You caught me!" He said while covering his face.

"I.. like you.. Mieko-chan." He said as I blushed.
"I like you too, Hiko-kun." I responded.

He hugged me tightly and I hugged him back.
"Let's finish our burgers and then we'll head home. That okay?" He said smiling.
"Okay!" I replied with a bigger smile.

"Wow! That was an amazing day, Hiko-kun. Thank you so much!" I said as he brought me to my house.
"No problem! I've had so much fun with you today, Mieko-chan." He said with a bright smile.

"Well.. I guess we're here. Thank you for bringing me home!" I said.
"Yeah, thank you for being with me today!" He replied.

There was a bit of silence between us for awhile..

"Umm.. since I can't kiss you in the lips, can I kiss you in the cheek?" He asked shyly while blushing.

I immediately started blushing after he asked.

"Uh.. sure! you can if want to." I said.
I felt so much butterflies flying around my stomach. The feeling was crazy.
I've never felt this way before..

"Uh.." He mumbled, then kissed me in the cheek.
He started blushing like crazy again afterwards.

"You're so cute, Hiko-kun!" I said to make him blush even more.
"Mieko-chan!! Don't say that!" He yelled at me while covering his blush.

"Why shouldn't I?" I asked while trying to remove his hands from his face.
"Because.. you're the one who's cute.." He mumbled, which I heard anyway.

I smiled at him and he smiled back

"It's getting pretty late, I think I'm gonna go." He said.
"Okay! Thank you again, for a wonderful day, Hiko-kun." I once again said.
"Thank you as well, Mieko-chan" He replied.

silence went through then..
He pecked me in the cheek, then ran back to his house.
I blushed and laughed as he ran away.

'He's one funny guy,  a cute one too.' I thought to myself.
"I like him. a lot." I said as I entered my home.
