Harleen, being fully Navajo and the daughter of a shaman, had to deal with the demons known as yee naaldlooshii or skinwalkers. For this, Alex often called her the Skinwalker Queen. When Alex killed Jay, Harleen found out about it almost instantly and broke up with Alex on the spot. After a few days of telling herself that everything would be fine and she could move on, Harleen committed suicide. Overdosed. She couldn't live with her own train of thought ('You love him~' 'You hate him!' 'You know what he did...') and ended it all. Since suicide is looked down upon in any culture and religion, and with her position as the new shawoman, she was given the deepest punishment her gods had; Harleen became a skinwalker. At one point, Alex had fled into the woods to get away from a vengeful Tim, he saw Harleen ripping open the throat of a deer to feed. When she feeds, she is given a very short period of time to speak, but can only speak Navajo. She smiled at him and said "Shi ndi ayóóʼáyóʼní ni..." Which translates to "I love you..." before running off.
