Synopsis

Angrboda, daughter of Himnir, is a descendant of the Frost Giants of Jötunheim and the Gods of Asgard. She is a powerful shield-maiden and shapeshifter, an ability she acquired through her Jötnar heritage.

Years ago, before Thor was banished to Earth and before Loki learned he was the son of Laufey, King of the Frost Giants, Angrboda was living peacefully in Asgard. She had met the sons of Odin on numerous occasions and slowly developed a fondness for Loki, which he returned.

Perhaps it was their common Jötnar descendance — which at the time was unknown to Loki — that triggered this mutual attraction, perhaps it was something else... To this day, Angrboda has a hard time explaining what drove her to get involved with the God of Mischief.

Even in their youth, she had always been a fury and he, a madman. Together, they were a whirlwind of passion and resentment... Their relationship was unsurprisingly short lived.

After a while, not very long at all, the remnants of their affection for each other disappeared in a puff of toxic smoke.

At the same time, tragedy strikes Angrboda's family and staying in Asgard becomes too painful. She decides to returns to Jötunheim, the realm of her ancestors where her new life would begin.

There, she meets Grimolf, an old Storm Giant, who takes her under his wing. Under Grimolf's training, she becomes one of the most spectacular warriors of the nine realms, earning the title of 'The Harpy of Jötunheim'.

Shortly before his death, Grimolf gifts her with the Chitauri Scepter, a powerful artefact that also serves as a weapon. But Grimolf never tells her the true extent of its powers.

Nevertheless, people across all realms begin to know Angrboda as the Guardian of the Chitauri Scepter, a title she treasures fiercely and proudly.

Years later, when The Harpy comes to find that the Scepter has been stolen from her, she flies into a blind rage heard in all corners of Jötunheim. She soon learns that the thief is none other than her old lover, Loki, who has elaborated a scheme to seize power over Earth.

Without thinking twice, Angrboda travels to Earth to retrieve her most precious possession, fully prepared to confront Loki and make him pay.

What she doesn't expect though, is to cross paths with S.H.I.E.L.D, a top-secret organisation aimed at defeating any threat that looms over Earth. She also doesn't expect to be introduced to the Avengers Initiative and much less to join their ranks...

But when do things ever go as planned?

A/N: In Norse mythology, Angrboda is a powerful giantess from Jötunheim. She also appears in the comics (very briefly) but my character is not related in any way to Marvel's.

In this story, Angrboda is only inspired by Norse mythology but, as you can probably tell, I've put my own twist on it.
